We were lucky to catch up with Bleau recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bleau, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My Upcoming EP project. It’s my debut EP and it not only contains the first song I made as an artist but also I wrote all the songs myself and I put in a lot of effort and time into it.
This project will allow dive into this interesting yet complex space in my head. A bitter sweet symphony.

Bleau, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I love telling this story. The story of how I got into the music industry. In 2021, I had an accident on my way to class, fortunately it wasn’t too severe but I couldn’t do anything for a while. So I had to take some time off school and the recovery process was what got me into music.
It was depressing and I couldn’t do anything for myself at the time, couldn’t walk, I had a cast on my neck and my right hand was twisted in the fall so that added to my pain.
With so much time on my hands, I found myself eating my own self away. I wasn’t nicer to me, there was a lot of complaints because I had to take a break from school as well. Lost my phone in that accident too so I couldn’t even call anyone to talk. Just a lost person laying down every day.
So I packed myself up, got into a reality music show and though I didn’t make it to the final lap, I got a manager and my team right after that show cause they saw something in me.
And now I love what I do. This gift, the ability to make something from your heart. Creating is a blessing. Getting where I am today has taught me that not every bad start concludes a bad ending.
Now I’m so immersed and so proud of what I do and where I’ve gotten too. AfroFuture Rising Star 2022 Winner. I hope people tangle in their feelings when they listen to my music and prays it creates a safe space for them to be themselves.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, it’s that unbelievable spark of joy that feels my soul whenever people tell me they love my music. It means the world to me to know that my music resonates with others and brings them joy.
To make the music and not know if anyone will listen yet you’re so confident enough that you put it out and hope that people will listen and appreciate it as much love as you do.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Participating and emerging the winner of AfroFuture Rising Star 2022 is that moment for me. This was a competition that was opened to every artist in the world not just my country.
There was voting and online performances to prove yourself as an artist. This part shook me and my team a bit cause the internet connection wasn’t working so well that day.
Fast forward, we made it to finals and all finalists had to perform their best that day at the AfroFuture show in Ghana. My set was messy. So messy I was not sure I was going to win. But I was content with my growth. Making it to the finals from such a huge number is not something I take lightly.
But I persevered and in the end I came out the winner. Sung my heart out and performed my songs to a huge audience. It was a blessing.
