We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shiketa Morgan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shiketa , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe that it takes Determination, A mindset to Grow as a leader and Faith.
In 1998, I felt led to leave a career as a medical assistant I trusted my instinct and followed God’s plan for my life.
I quit my job where I was making $10.25/hr and started a home daycare with $600.
In 2003, My husband and I moved the business out the home into our first commercial location.
For 11 years, I worked on my confidence as a leader and developed my faith as a leader.
Once I grew as a leader. I was ready for business growth. The daycare went from 1500 Sq ft to 6600 square feet In December 2014.
In 2016, the Business grew again. We added a second location.
Then in 2018, I was inspired to move to a new city. My husband and I visited Atlanta in 2013 and I felt in my spirit that we were suppose to do Business and live in Atlanta.
I was afraid to leave St.Louis because everything and everyone that I loved was in St.Louis.
In 2018, my younger sister suddenly went into cardiac arrest and it caused me to think about how fast life could be over and how important it is to live your dreams.
October 5, 2018, My husband and I stepped out on faith and moved to a new city. God showed me in a dream that I would have a big baby in Georgia and that baby was a child care center.
In March 2021, we got our Big baby. That big baby is over 7,000 square feet of beautiful child care space for young children.
My vision began to die in St.Louis, so we let the St.Louis location go and we are going to continue to build by Faith in Georgia.
I have found that for every level of business that I attain, I must go to a new level as a leader and I must keep growing in Faith.
One day soon we will have multiple locations In Georgia and will do it with lots of determination and Faith!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m most proud of our love for families and the fact that we get to teach children to pray. Moreover, that Learning Days teaches children the word of God and provides a safe place to Grow n’ Learn.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media is the new business card. We connect with families via Facebook and Instagram.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
The pivot for me was having the courage to move to a new city and going to a new level in a new city.
