We were lucky to catch up with Aurora Huerta recently and have shared our conversation below.

Aurora, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?

I believe every things happens at the right time at the right place. Physically i wish i couldve started earlier but mentally did not feel i was prepared for it all.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Aurora, i am 23 years old, a first generation child, a business owner(Beautyworxbyaurora) , and a foodie&travel lover.
I had just lost my full time job back in 2022, when my cousin- who is also in the beauty industry, reached out to me to see if i wanted to be one of her models for a free lash extension set. I accepted and immediately fell inlove.
I had never gotten my lashes done before and was left speechless with how much confidence and put together it made me feel. I was debating whether to get into college, or cosmetology school, when i came across a lash academy that was near me. Luckily, i had some money saved and enrolled into it. I was not expecting to enjoy lash school as much as i did!
Fast-forward to a couple months later of much practice, i decided it was tike to take in models as well. I offered only classic lashes at the time, which has helped me now with better placement and attachment to the natural lash. I would get frustrated because i could never handmake fans and would slowly get discouraged seeing others catch on to it so quickly- but I never gave up.
Fast forward to now, my most requested set would be a full volume set , something i could not achieve at the start of my journey. I now offer lashes ranging from classic to mega volume, and soon to provide other services.
I believe people not only go to you for their lashes but also what keeps them coming back is your personality and customer service. I always strive to give my clients the best experience possible by little things such as asking what they desire to meet their expectations.Coming with me not only will you feel beautiful after your appointment, but you will build a long time friendship and a person you can count on.
Despite there being many talented lash artists , all the critics , all the self sabotaging moments i have, i do not give up on my business. My future depends on my ‘now’ , so giving up is not an option.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

Growing up, i never liked to ask for things, i always loved to work for them. I do not come from a wealthy family, therefore my goal or mission is to be the one to provide my family and i the lifestyle we’ve always desired.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

Definitely will have to be collaborating/networking with different lash artists. Instead of viewing them as competition, supporting them will make your business grow so much more. I struggled with this so much during my first few months because i was not getting as booked as them. Alongside working on my craft, i started to realize that was only toxic to my well being and never brought anything good. I slowly started reaching out to other artists to see what helps them with their business and apply that same approach.
