We were lucky to catch up with Lucia Marmol recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lucia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
From a young age, I was captivated by the transformative nature of art—painting, drawing, and creating became my sanctuary, allowing my imagination to run wild. However, as I grew older, I opted for a seemingly “secure” path, pursuing a career in architecture while putting my artistic dreams on hold. Yet, as life unfolded, I encountered a profound and painful event that changed my world, leading me on a path of healing and self-discovery. Guided by therapy and supported by a nurturing community, I embarked on the beautiful process of rebuilding my life. In this journey, I rediscovered the essence of who I truly am, reigniting a powerful yearning to return to art and to start pursuing it professionally.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m, a self-taught and intuitive abstract artist living and working in Miami, Florida. My deep desire to express myself through art and other creative outlets has been with me since I was young. This passion led me to pursue a career in Architecture at the University of Miami, where I earned my Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2007. I believe that art is a powerful tool for emotional healing, capable of connecting us with our divine nature and inner child.
Since 2020, I have been actively pursuing my artistic career. I primarily connect with my audience through online platforms and my personal network of friends and acquaintances. In 2022, I had my first gallery exhibition as part of the “Where Does it Hurt?” show at the Gallery of Light in Pinecrest, Florida. This was a significant milestone for me, as it allowed me to share my work with a wider audience and establish myself in the art community. I also participated in the 2023 ‘photoMIAMI™ & Pop-Up Fair’ during Miami Art Week (“Art Basel Week”) and am currently a featured artist in the Miami Art Week online gallery.
Art has been, and continues to be, a powerful conduit of emotional healing in my life. Because of this, my artistic mission goes beyond creating visually appealing pieces; it aims to create ethereal abstract paintings that foster healing and meditative experiences within a space. Through fluid mediums (mainly alcohol inks) and an intuitive, meditative creative approach, I use bright colors, metallic details, and organic lines to craft paintings that encourage viewers to engage in introspection, relaxation, and emotional well-being.
I’m drawn to bright colors, metallic details, and flowing organic lines, and I like to incorporate them in most of my paintings as they convey a sense of joy and whimsy. I find that fluid mediums, especially alcohol inks, perfectly align with my style of painting, which often falls into the realms of abstract and ethereal art. The unpredictable nature of these mediums lends itself beautifully to my creative process, as each stroke and layer of color takes on a life of its own. Even when employing the same techniques, I am constantly met with different and mesmerizing results.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
What drives my creative practice is the power that art has in helping us heal emotionally. Having experienced this continuously on a day-to-day basis, painting becomes the channel through which I reconnect with neglected parts of myself, nurturing the ‘little me’ that had been forgotten for too long. This is a message I aim to share through my artwork and by engaging with my collectors and followers on social media. It’s important to reconnect with ourselves and our inner child, striving to live authentically and true to ourselves.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is simply doing what I know I was meant to do, which is to create. For a long time, I searched for my life’s purpose and the reason ‘why’ I was here. It wasn’t until I began my healing journey, reconnecting with parts of myself I thought I had lost, that I realized my creative talents were never lost; I simply used them differently in my architectural and marketing practices. It wasn’t until I began to create just for myself that I felt I had found my purpose. This is what motivates me to keep pursuing my dream of being a self-sustained full-time artist while building my artistic practice/business part-time alongside my full-time job. It’s a lot of hard work, but it doesn’t feel like work because it’s something I love and know I’m meant to do.
