We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Vuyanzi Rodman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Vuyanzi below.
Vuyanzi, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
In the past I found myself criticizing myself about where I was not in my life. One of my coaches encouraged me to accept that where I was was where I was supposed to be. I also found a definition of success that resonated with me.
“the progressive realization of a worthy ideal”
This definition of success coupled with acceptance of where I was in my life has built my confidence around my success. I can freely say that I am successful because I can look back at what brought me here with appreciation and I can continue to craft what is success in my own life.
It is a liberating feeling that increases your self love and self admiration.

Vuyanzi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am grateful to be living my purpose on a daily basis. I am called to empower women leaders with a focus on black women leaders. I coach, teach, inspire and heal with the gift I have been given however this is not how it all began…
Over 13 years ago, I got my first introduction to coaching through a community program. I invested in it and eventually wanted to become one however it never seemed to be the “right time.” I created the right time over a decade later. As I began my work as a coach, instead of niching down as advised, I wanted to see who was drawn to me. It turns out that again and again, black women leaders in the United States, expressed their joy in coming to me. You see, at the time, black women seemed to be underrepresented in the coaches they had been exposed to in the workplace.
Since my business has evolved and simplified. I have one group coaching program called the Career Passion Accelerator. It helps me avail myself for more speaking engagements and the new book that I wish to complete by year’s end all while witnessing amazing transformation in the lives of the women who come through the program.
It is an honor to see transformations that are achieved while people work with me. I have seen women leaders allow themselves to dream about what their next chapter could be and as a result start new businesses, expand their businesses and manifest their desires. I have even witnessed women leaders healing from old wounds that they have carried with them.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Pivoting and reinvention have been a part of my life’s theme for a significant part of my career. The word “had” is relative here because it was my soul that had to pivot. I had been a teacher for going on 7 years. It was a career that I thought I would stay in for 30 years… that is what I was “supposed” to do, right? I began to have exposure to the idea of entreprenuership through an multilevel marketing companty that I was a part of. It became apparent that I did not have to stay in my job “forever” but I could pivot.
And pivot I did. There were a few shifts in the corporate world and 12 years in the making I finally pivoted into the coach that I only coaches. Often times I am asked, “…but what do you do?” I laugh because people are not used to people living their passion and purpose but it is possible and I am a living testimony.
The pivots have required me to be malleable and adaptable. And there were a number a jobs that I have done that I did not like but I did not take my eye completely off the prize even when the vision was blurred with my own tears and wondering how in the world I would reach my goal. I have learned many lessons in my pivots however the biggest awareness insight was my level of perseverance. It is not a lesson that wish on anyone as some of my hard shifts came with major setbacks but I did not let go.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Yes, there are a number of books that have shaped and continue to shape my thinking and philosophy, I will narrow it down to a few:
1. Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice by Dennis Kimbro – This can be considered a spinoff of Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill. It highlights and profiles the success of African Americans.
2. Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill – This book highlights the principles of creating the success you want in life.
3. The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz – These four agreements are to live by in any industry.
4. Break the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza – This help you shift your mind through science and spirit.
5. 10X is Easier than 2X – This book helps you to shift your thinking to achieve more.
6: The Bible – I grew up reading and hearing about the bible however it wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized there are so many principles around mindset that are timeless.
