We were lucky to catch up with Lauren Kelly Scott recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lauren, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
There are plenty of stories that I could tell you, but this is the moment that made me realize that I have to be part of the Next Generation’s push in being who they are. As I was thinking about transitioning careers from educating in the classroom to educating outside of the classroom to start my nonprofit organization FLY Girlz Academy, I realized that my story had captured the attention of 12 young fearless girls starting from 7 years old to 12. While I was telling my story of how someone’s insecurity can transfer to you in a way that questions your physical appearance or identity, I realized that we needed a program in Fort Worth that shapes the mind of our Next Generation to build there skills in social emotional learning, and leadership development. While I thought O wanted to do annual retreats for young girls, one parent sparked the vision of FLY Girlz Academy with one question “Will you continue on with this program?” Since 2021, I do not regret stepping out on faith to build this program with God’s grace, and this moment was only the beginning of a new era in my life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As the Founder and Executive Director of FLY Girlz Academy Inc., I am deeply passionate about empowering young girls to become fearless leaders and change-makers in their communities. My journey into this industry began with a fervent desire to address the unique challenges and barriers faced by girls, particularly those from underserved communities. Recognizing the transformative power of education, mentorship, and empowerment, I founded FLY Girlz Academy with the mission to provide girls with the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
At FLY Girlz Academy, we offer a range of programs and services aimed at fostering self-actualization, leadership development, community service, and entrepreneurship among girls ages 7-18. Through workshops, mentorship programs, community events, and summer sessions, we create safe and inclusive spaces where girls can explore their passions, develop essential skills, and unleash their full potential.
Our organization is dedicated to addressing the pressing issues facing girls today, including low self-esteem, lack of access to educational opportunities, and limited exposure to positive role models. By providing tailored programming and support, we aim to empower girls to overcome obstacles, embrace their strengths, and pursue their dreams with confidence and determination.
What sets FLY Girlz Academy apart is our holistic approach to girls’ empowerment, which combines academic enrichment, socio-emotional learning, and community engagement. We prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything we do, ensuring that all girls have equal access to our programs and resources regardless of their background or circumstances.
I am most proud of the impact we have had on the lives of girls in our community, witnessing their growth, resilience, and success as they navigate the challenges of adolescence and emerge as leaders in their own right. Our commitment to creating positive change and uplifting the next generation of girls is unwavering, and I am honored to be a part of their journey toward greatness.
To potential clients, followers, and fans, I want you to know that FLY Girlz Academy is more than just a program—it’s a movement. We are dedicated to empowering girls to dream big, embrace their uniqueness, and fearlessly pursue their passions. Join us as we continue to uplift and inspire the next generation of fearless leaders.

Have you ever had to pivot?
One pivotal moment that I can think of is when I thought I wanted to become a life coach for women, in which I dabbled in it as a certified life coach. Although I do not regret this credential, I realized how strenuous and exhausting it was to take on the emotions of other people, and not seeking guidance for yourself. I finally realized that in order for me to continue to pour into our fearless girls and young woman, I had to seek help for myself. Once I talked to a therapist, shout out to Dr. Sherman of Intimate Alter Wellness, I realized that I had internal traumas and triggers to heal to continue my journey. I am still healing daily but now can recognize how to coup with certain situations to help our Next Generation to overcome anxiety, depression, and survivors in there journey. When I am well and my cup is overflow, that is when I can help the next best fearless girl to tackle on life in the midst of trials and tribulations of life.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Great question! I have a strong support system that at first thought I was crazy for switching careers. Even my husband was scared because I was a person that would start something but never finished the work. What helped me in the nonprofit world is allowing myself to authentically be who I am and not put on the mask when going to networking events. I had portrayed to be something I was not for so long and refuse to allow the “professional’’ world to tell me what I can or cannot do. The icing on the cake was looking God to steer the course, and know that I am not in control. That I have to write the vision and make it plain while God has the plans. Another part of my reputation was built on relationships between businesses, parents, the FLY Girls, and people who have recommended me because of the content I have built on social media and testimonials. Right now, I have not had to ask for girls to join my program because we have repeated members and also new members reaching out on how their girls can get involved and even volunteer. It feels great that the works of my labor are working out in Jesus Name!
