We recently connected with Crystal Diosy Reyes and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Crystal Diosy, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Growing up in Pacoima, a place lacking the kind of role models and opportunities that resonated with my neurodivergent and creative spirit, ignited a fire within me. It became clear that the whispers of doubt surrounding Pacoima, the negative labels and statistics, weren’t the full story. Living in a redlined zone, I understood the systemic struggles our community faced, but also recognized the immense potential and the unwavering spirit that resided within its residents.
This understanding, coupled with my own journey of self-discovery, led me to forge a path as a grassroots advocate, journalist, and organizer. Now having the opportunity to work in media with a growing platform, my mission is deeply personal: to rewrite the narrative of Pacoima & The San Fernando Valley. I’m not working alone towards this, there’s countless others who know we deserve to see our community celebrated for its beauty, resilience, and the unwavering kindness that binds us together.
This is the heart of my mission. our home is more than a zip code to its residents; it’s a family bound by “La lucha,” the fight for a better tomorrow. Ive learned it’s not about changing perceptions from the outside in, but about changing our actions from the inside out. And it’s through this collective effort, fueled by genuine intention, that we will truly uplift our community and inspire future generations to dream beyond the limitations placed upon them. Every small, intentional choice, every act of mentorship, every effort to clean our parks and offer a kind word, holds the power to rewrite this narrative.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My journey has been driven by a desire for fairness and a deep connection to the San Fernando Valley. Starting in security, I witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by marginalized communities. Witnessing unfair treatment, and experiencing it myself as a woman in a male-dominated field, solidified my desire to forge a different path. Moving into property management, I excelled, but again faced systemic issues like unfair rental practices and gentrification. This led me to burnout, and ultimately, to starting my own businesses: Vision Elevated Photography & Event Services and Vida Limpa Home Services.
Now, I’m deeply invested in the San Fernando Valley. My businesses allow me to serve the community directly, while my involvement in various collectives and organizations fuels my passion for positive change.
In that vein, I’m proud to be the Chief Operating Officer of Valley Views SFV Media, a local grassroots media company dedicated to amplifying the voices of the San Fernando Valley. Additionally, I’m the founder of Voces Unidas En Pacoima, along with my co-founders, we are a collective of organizers working to create positive change within our community.
What sets me apart is a combination of factors:
* Driven by social justice: My experiences have instilled a strong sense of empathy and a dedication to advocating for those facing systemic challenges.
* Entrepreneurial spirit: I’m a resourceful problem-solver, building successful businesses that cater to the needs of the community.
* Deeply connected: My commitment to the San Fernando Valley shines through in everything I do.
But perhaps most importantly, I love showing my community that there are other ways of getting to your destination.Following the conventional corporate structure isn’t always the best option for everyone, and I believe in forging your own path based on your values and passions.
This is what drives me in my businesses, media work, community organizing, and my involvement with organizations like LA Repair, The Green Together Collaborative, and the Shut Down Whiteman Airport Coalition. Each of these groups plays a vital role in advocating for a more just and sustainable San Fernando Valley, and I’m proud to be a part of their efforts.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Voces Unidas en Pacoima’s story wasn’t born out of a chance encounter or a formal business meeting. It was forged in the fires of shared purpose, a deep connection to our community, and a collective desire to make a lasting difference. Bound by the tragic loss of or father, my sister Teodora and I found solace in community action. We joined forces, fueled by a shared passion for civic engagement. Soon after, Melisa, a kindred spirit with a keen understanding of policy and its local impact, joined our circle. Through our individual experiences, we discovered the power of diverse perspectives. Maria, a fellow advocate focused on transportation and environmental issues, brought her unique viewpoint to the table. Daniel, a local musician and champion for underserved youth, further enriched our team with his unwavering dedication to positive social change.
We are not simply colleagues; we are a family bound by our shared love for the San Fernando Valley and its people. We believe in the transformative power of civic engagement, and we are committed to helping finding/ providing the resources and support that empower individuals to take action and drive meaningful progress.
Together, we strive to be a catalyst for positive change, amplifying the voices of our community and fostering a space where everyone feels empowered to contribute to the betterment of the San Fernando Valley.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
My leadership at Valley Views SFV Media and Voces Unidas en Pacoima is a responsibility I hold close to my heart. I understand the weight of this role and am constantly striving to learn and grow alongside my peers and community. My goal isn’t just managing a team; it’s building a family within our community. We work alongside community, colleagues who are also our friends, collaborating partners and affiliated organizations are our neighbors. This unique dynamic requires fostering a culture of trust, open communication, and shared purpose.
My background, leading diverse teams in security and residential settings has honed my ability to connect with people on a deeper level, understanding their cultural background and prioritizing work-life balance. This builds a supportive environment where everyone feels valued, empowered, and motivated to excel.
I empower my team with autonomy, challenging them to grow while celebrating individual contributions and team wins. This creates a sense of ownership and shared success, fostering a strong bond that goes beyond the workplace.
By prioritizing these values, I cultivate a team that feels supported, motivated, and deeply connected, just like a family. This translates into high morale, increased productivity, and a truly collaborative spirit that benefits both the team and the community we serve.
