We recently connected with Cristina Jimenez and have shared our conversation below.
Cristina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I have been a planner my whole life and when I first started working in this business it combined two things I am very passionate about: planning and money. My mission in my business is simple, help people to build a plan that gives them confidence in their financial decisions and help them to be financially secure in the event of a major loss.
Loss of a loved one, or a job, or the ability to earn a living already take enough of an emotional toll on those affected, but if you have done proper planning it doesn’t have to be financially devastating.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a San Diego native and Certified Financial PlannerTM Practitioner going on my 12th year of working in this business. When I discovered that you can combine a passion for planning with building wealth I realized financial planning was my calling. The first story that cemented this as my career was a couple who had started working with a financial advisor. Through the planning process they came up with a savings plan, and put some financial protections in place (life insurance and disability insurance). Years later the husband was diagnosed with ALS, however the disability insurance covered the full amount income he was no longer able to earn. At his age 65 he passed away and the life insurance was used to payoff the house and allow his wife to retire and take the time she needed to heal.
I am proud of the impact I can have on a family’s financial well-being but also that I am able to provide people with peace of mind that they will be taken care of in the event of a loss. My approach always begins with a comprehensive plan so that we leave no stone untouched and I serve as a partner and provide accountability to my clients for the things they have said are important to them.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I love my clients and choose to work with people that value advice and will implement it. My best source of new clients are referrals from people who I have worked with over the years and have seen how impactful having a solid financial plan in place is. I find that not all advisors are created equal, but my clients are my biggest advocates.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
All of our clients are set on a regular service schedule to make sure we are in constant communication with them as you never know how quickly life can change. While we do have regularly scheduled contact we are also available in between those meetings as those life events happen. I know all too well that it is impossible to predict a change in job, a growing family, or a loss. I like to be a resource for my clients as their life changes and evolves, and when we talk about how we work together we refer to it as a relationship. My clients are important to me in that they put their trust in me with something that is causes a lot of anxiety for many. My job may not be to have all the answers but to let them know they have a partner to help them navigate various complex financial landscapes and they are not alone.
