Alethea, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

I remember how scary it was when I got laid off from my corporate job. I knew I didn’t want to go back to working for someone else, so I decided to dive headfirst into the world of entrepreneurship.

Starting my own business was exhilarating and simultaneously, terrifying! So many women are socialized to think we need to take care of everyone and everything. And to follow a specific, linear path in our family and professional lives.

When I started Inspire Website Design I knew that I wanted to work exclusively with women just like me. Women that were taking that leap to start their own business. My mission was not just to design a website, but to support and lift up my clients in the process (which can feel so overwhelming if going it alone!).

I’m living my dream — doing what I love, and helping other women forge their own paths. Powerful things happen when women lock arms.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

For my whole life, I’ve always marched to the beat of my own drum. For a long time, I thought that doing my own thing meant I had to do everything myself. But as a business owner, I learned early on that we all need back-up from time to time!

That’s my philosophy in the work I do at Inspired Web Design. I’m working behind the scenes for some seriously amazing female entrepreneurs who totally could do it all – but they trust me with their websites so that they have more time and energy to do the work that the world really needs from them.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

When I first left corporate and started as an entrepreneur, I decided to go back to school to be a chef. I owned a personal chef and plant-based wellness coaching business for over 10 years.

During that time, I learned a lot about building a business and was fortunate enough to find success – due in large part to the websites I designed for myself at the time.

I was constantly getting compliments on my website and started to get requests from other business owners to help with theirs too and to my surprise, before I knew it, my side hustle became my full-time gig.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I used to be overly concerned about others’ opinions when I opted out of the traditional 9-5 corporate grind. My professional journey was anything but linear, and it wasn’t until my 40s that I stumbled upon a career that truly resonated with me. Over the past five years of working with fellow female entrepreneurs, I’ve come to realize that many share a similar narrative—where they began professionally isn’t where they ultimately found fulfillment. This aspect is among the many reasons I adore my business: witnessing women venture beyond their comfort zones to pursue their genuine passions, even when it feels daunting!
