My name is Vanessa Bellan, and I am the founder and designer behind V.BELLAN jewelry. My journey into the jewelry industry began in 2011, when I started working with various designers and companies, refining my skills and understanding of the craft. However, my true inspiration came in 2019, with the tragic loss of my daughter. This event sparked a creative drive in me, leading to the creation of the N.C. Fine Jewelry Collection, Amari Collection, and Bars Collection, which became the launch of V.BELLAN – on what would have been my daughter’s first birthday.

At V.BELLAN, we specialize in creating meaningful jewelry that goes beyond mere adornment. Each piece is designed to tell a story, evoke emotions, and connect with the wearer on a deeper level. One of the most defining moments of resilience in my journey was when I faced the loss of my daughter in 2019. This tragedy was a profound and devastating experience that deeply impacted me. Despite the immense grief, I found solace and strength in my work as a jewelry designer.

Amid my mourning, I channeled my emotions into my craft, creating pieces that honored my daughter’s memory and reflected my journey through grief. This process was both cathartic and empowering, as it allowed me to transform pain into purpose.

Through this experience, I learned that resilience is not just about bouncing back from adversity, but also about finding strength and purpose in the face of challenges. My journey through grief has shaped me as a designer and as a person, reinforcing my belief in the power of storytelling and meaningful design.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?

Yes, my side hustle became my main business. I started making jewelry for myself and friends, which grew into a small business. The big change came when I launched my first collection, Enteresant, in 2016. People loved the designs, and that’s when I decided to focus on jewelry full-time.

In 2019, I faced a personal tragedy, this made me even more determined to succeed. I channeled my emotions into creating new collections, like the N.C. Fine Jewelry Collection, Amari Collection, and Bars Collection. These collections marked a new chapter for my brand, which I relaunched as V.BELLAN jewelry in 2020.

Important moments along the way include hosting trunk shows and expanding into retail partnerships. Each step has helped my business grow and reach more people. It’s been a journey of hard work, passion, and growth, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my creations with the world.
