Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Veronika Glazunova. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Veronika, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Some meaningful projects I have been working on since the start of the pandemic, which nudged me towards giving more intentional focus to developing my art work and style, have been watercolor Pet Portraits, personalized New Home announcements and Baby on the Way announcements. I have enjoyed getting creative and telling a story of the subjects I am capturing through cozy visuals, textured watercolor and mixed media. My most recent meaningful project I am currently working on is a themed watercolor illustration calendar of Cats & Plants inspired by the lovable cats that are a part of my relatives daily lives in Latvia. Cats & Plants features cats and greenery in various cozy settings. The illustrations are filled with soft texture, warm colors, subtle patterns and details, vintage objects, and of course lots of cats and plants!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
To best support artists and creatives, people can seek out local shops and markets that sell the work of local artists and creatives to shop one of a kind items and handmade gifts. When looking for gifts and artwork for the home, try to buy from independent artists instead of large chain stores, or ask an artist to create a custom commisioned artwork. If you know any artists personally, find opportunities or ask them how you can support them. You can hire them to work on a project with you if the fit is right, keep them in mind when gift shopping or spread the word about their work or events they participate in.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I have always been inspired, fascinated and concerned about the natural world, and the negative impacts of climate change and human activity on nature and wild animals. The mission of my work is continue to capture the beauty of the natural world and to help bring awareness to it’s endangerment through the projects, materials and types of clients I work with in the future.
