We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Paige Lorentzen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Paige below.
Paige, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think I learned a lot about the word “success” from my grandfather. He always taught me to think outside the box and even when you receive 1000 no’s it only takes one yes. Success can be measured in a number of ways and even though many see success as a simple financial number it is so much more than that. How many people did you help along the way? Do you love what you do? Did you try and fail but get back up again? Even that is success in itself. My best advice is to not be afraid of failure. With every failure comes a lesson that helps you to improve the next time around. You also have to believe in your ideas more than anybody else. If you don’t believe in your vision how do you expect others to? Lastly, patience is key. Great things take time and persistence. Look at any successful company and you will see it all didn’t happen overnight. It took time, belief, set backs, and above all else a desire to make a difference.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Paige Lorentzen and under a year ago I started my creative marketing agency, The Paris Social. Ever since college I have always had a passion for digital marketing. While I was in school my personal social platforms started to grow so when it came time for graduation I applied for social media management positions in order to learn more about the business side of digital marketing. As a result I ended up helping a number of companies in the food and beverage space to build out their socials and develop their influencer programs. At the same time I was trying to manage my own socials and have had the privilege of working with some incredibly notable fashion/beauty brands. With 8 years of experience on both the corporate and influencer side of digital marketing I felt I had knowledge in the space that not many people had. In September I decided to finally take the leap and start my own creative agency to be able to share this knowledge in hopes of helping others achieve their social goals. The Paris Social works with both brands and creators and offers monthly social media management, influencer partnerships, UGC content creation, as well as professional photoshoot coordination. We stay up to date on ever changing monthly trends and always try to build out a community instead of just growing a following. Would absolutely love the opportunity to work with you and help you to achieve all of your social media goals.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building a social media presence isn’t a one size fits all plan. I can easily tell you all to post at least once a day, utilizing SEO optimized captions, high resolution quality, natural light, and engage with likeminded creators. This is the formula that does tend to work however; what is the content about? Does it provide value? What is going to make a viewer want to hit that follow button?
When I first started out on social media it was 2012/2013 and the term influencer wasn’t around yet. There were about 10 filters you could choose from and everything wasn’t heavily curated. If you think about it I think individuals are craving this time in social media. Authenticity and realness are becoming so important. Some of the biggest creators that are growing now in 2024 are all creators that feel comfortable showing their authentic personality. My best advice is to just be yourself as simple as that sounds. There is an audience for everyone on social media. It’s just about staying true to you. Some of my best performing videos were videos where I shared my struggles with acne. It’s ok to share things that aren’t necessarily “pretty & perfect”. Most of the time others can relate and feel seen when you share these things. It helps to curate a community that is highly engaged. At the end of the day a community is more important than followers.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Honesty. I truly think this is such an important quality that a lot of brands don’t value enough. There are businesses that approach me asking for help with influencer marketing when their focus should be on B2B instead of B2C. Does this mean I lose that contract by telling them influencer posts probably won’t move the needle in terms of revenue, sure, but integrity goes a long way. The majority of those businesses were so thankful for my honesty that they ended up referring me to clients I could help. There are always ways to make money so never try to take on a client to earn a dollar if you don’t feel you can help them to the fullest of your potential. Sometimes it will take a bit longer but it always comes back around and will work out in your favor in the end.
