We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rachel Dinda a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rachel, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
A mural that stands out as most meaningful is a project I volunteered for in 2020. “Art for Hope”, was an event hosted by the mental health initiative “Linked for Life” and “Rise Up”- a nonprofit that supports artists to create inclusive public art, accessible for anyone. During this event, several artists were provided with large boards to create a visual representation of ‘hope’, that later would be placed around the city. While artists were painting, Linked For Life broke the Guiness Book of World Records by connecting the longest chain of carabiners 701.12 m (2,300 ft 3in) long around a baseball field. Each linked carabiner represented the strength of human connection.
I like to collaborate on projects that support conservation efforts, education, or health and wellness. “Art for Hope” was important to me because it took place during 2020-a year filled with change and struggle for many. Using murals as a vessel to educate or uplift, I like to advocate mental health and encourage people to prioritize their mental wellbeing. If my artwork captures the attention of even just one person, and offers a resource or connection, that’s what feeds my soul.

Rachel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Rachel and Dreamscaper is my artist moniker. I have worked as a nurse for years, but recently, I changed my path to pursue my passion-art. I’m the proud owner of Dreamscapes Design– a mural company in which I design and paint custom large scale pieces of art. I provide specialized interior and exterior mural services as I work closely with clients to create vibrant, eye-catching, large-scale pieces of artwork.
Many times, my clients focus on logistics to run a company. I take pride in offering a creative approach to enliven their business and increase customer awareness. In addition to visual engagement, murals also communicate support for local art and economy. It’s win for everyone.
What makes Dreamscapes Design unique? In addition to thoughtful mural planning and execution, My company offers a specialized media package. I work with a camera operator who documents the process and story behind the mural and business. Through high resolution photo, video, and aerial documentation, my creative team will capture intimate details that make the business remarkable.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I find NFTs valuable to my creative career because artists are empowered to have greater control over the work they produce. Artists can identify and sell to their audience without sacrificing funds to galleries, studios, or agents. Something I find valuable, is the option to allocate profits to Grassroot projects instead. I appreciate creating awareness and connecting my audience directly to the efforts I care about most.
NFTs build and support communities. Like art, NFTs are communicated universally. They cultivate virtual spaces for people around the world to discover and interact at any time of day. Society constructs that value lies within physical looks or ownership of material items. I believe NFT’s offer a new decentralized and nondiscriminatory appeal–where value lies within interactions, thoughts and contributions within a community.
This space pushes creatives to be creative. There’s a world of education and exploration at our fingertips.
What do you find most rewarding about being creative?
I measure success in several ways. But the most predominate aspect of being an artist is freedom. Freedom to choose which projects I would like to work on and with whom. Freedom to invest as much or little time on my craft, researching, practicing, teaching myself or others. Freedom to create awareness and stand up for change. And finally, freedom to grow for myself. The exponential growth that I see in my efforts since I became serious about my art career is spectacular. I feel incredibly blessed to wake up in the morning and do what I love. That to me is most rewarding.
