We were lucky to catch up with Domo Reignz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Domo, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
As a kid i always knew that I wanted to sing. I use to sneak in the autotorium trying to play the piano while the other children were playing at recess. I didn’t realize until an adult that someone must’ve saw me and start leaving it open for me because why would it just be unlock lol.
Over time I started getting booked to perform at shows. My first performance was in Vallejo CA. I was so nervous sweating bullets but I had so much support and I killed the stage. From there I start getting more bookings. I had two in San Jose CA one in Berkeley then San Rafael I was getting so much support…..
I also starred in E40’s movie “16BarsTheMovie” that has not released yet.
A music video for Lil Dicky: All K
I walked in Trina’s Fashion Show in Oakland CA.
I also auditioned at the Final American Idol at Cal Palace in San Francisco CA. They put you in 4 groups of 4 to compete. I was the only one that made it to the 2nd round although I did not win.
but then I start noticing people that I thought were friends and close to me, started to change and act funny around me. It didn’t stop me thought. I start making even more connections. A good friend connected me with R Kelly when he came to the Bay then Avant, after R Kelly was singing my music to me nobody could tell me nothing I knew at that moment I WANTED MORE & nothing would stop me. I then started traveling to NYC.. I linked with Kool John at 1 Oak I ended up meeting DJ Kay Slay and Big D The Weatherman who pulled me aside asking me what was I into. We then set up a meeting that I would have at Universal Records in Manhattan NY. While leaving the club Busta Rhymes and Robin Thicke was calling my name but me and my friends were already walking out the door so I waved smiled and kept it moving, but inside I knew at the moment God had my back and that I had to continue to put in the Footwork which I did ! –
While at the meeting at Universal they asked me if I wanted to be in Straight Stuntin Magazine, had me sing and rap on the spot and also suggested that I changed the name I was going by at the time for marketing purposes. We set up the magazine shoot with Frank Antonio and I had less than a week to come up with a new name. I came up with Domo Reignz – Domo short for Dominique and Reign because I am going to Reign over anything I touch I will take it over and I added the “z” at the end to give it a little more sauce.
I was traveling so much back and forth from The Bay to NYC I ended up moving there and I ended up in about 5 magazine issues as well as playing a Dirty Sheriff in Straight Stuntin Chronicles.
I started performing my music in NYC. One of my favorite places that I performed at a few times was The Milk River in Brooklyn many celebrities have performed there before it was shut down.
At one of my shows in Manhattan I met a guy name 6. That’s now my bro he connected me to get a few cameo’s on Black Ink NYC it was lit and I met some amazing people. Kay Slay also connected me to be on Love and Hip Hop with Remy Ma and Papoose for the Golden Child Episode-
I also was able to be in a few music videos:
DJ Kayslay ft. Papoose,Bun B, Saigon, Meet Sims ( 24 Hours to Save Hip Hop )
DJ KaySlay ft: Dave East, Vado, Julian Morgan ( Street Life )
DJ KaySlay ft: Nya Lee, Lexxy, EMC Scotty, Meet Sims ( My Sisters Keeper )
For me this all was practice to where I wanted to be, and who I want to become so I kept going !
As time went on I start missing home I felt so alone in NY so I moved back to The Bay- everyone in NY that supported me did not think that was a good idea to leave everything I worked hard for to work at a “desk job” as they called it for Social Security Headquarters… it was one of the hardest decisions to make but I did it I moved back to California …. But the grind did NOT stop !
I started studying and improving my craft and learned how to record myself somewhat on Protools – I can’t record how my engineer in Manhattan could record me but I was using it as practice before going to the bigger studios.
So I moved back to the Bay and got back to work… at first it was mainly just working the desk job getting things in order and back on track but I continued to record and perform my music – but I still wanted more
Months went by Covid came along things were changing around the world, I ended up leaving social security headquarters to work for the hospital as I was certified in the medical field and always wanted to work in the medical field at one point. Months went by and I felt as if I wasn’t doing enough so I transferred my job to Los Angeles maybe 2-3 months in I ended up on The Zeus Network on One Mo Chance Season 2 where they named me “Brown Suga”
I started to grow a different type of fanbase from Zeus Network a younger audience seems like – but I wanted them to know music is my number one so I start performing in LA.
I performed at Cheetahs Stripclub. I performed with a radio station for Bet Weekend at The Los Angeles Convention Center. I was selected out of hundreds to perform on stage with Druski at The Microsoft Theater in front of Thousands of people.
Things were going great for me. Then about a year later Druski and his team contacted me and told me Druski was starting a show if I would like to do a cameo on his show, they did inform me that I wouldn’t be on the show but I will be on the first episode for promo, so I accepted it and did my cameo.
I also starred on One of Judge Mathis final episodes that went viral pretty quickly before the end of him being a Judge on TV.
I just opened up for Stunna Girl in Los Angeles and I will be performing in Hawaii in June 2024 once again. That crowd was huge and very supportive.
Recently I filmed on an episode on The Zeus Network again. They collaborated on a show with Nick Cannon combining Zeus and wild n out called Bad vs. Wild this episode caused so much controversy online due to our Episode being named Chocolate Goddesses vs. Caramel Goddesses, although the name was changed a few times due to the chaos it was a great deal to be apart and I had a lot of fun.
During all of this I am still in the studio recording music. I was just contacted to work on a song with D Shot who is E40’s brother. After completing that song he informed me that E40 will be getting on the remix and he expressed to me how much they loved the song and asked me to get on another song which features D Shot and also has a member from an old school legendary group called “Troop” singing on it, he also informed me that E40 will be getting on this song as well. D Shot is making an Album full of legends so I am honored to be apart of this project.
I’ve done a lot with no management and I am hoping to one day get signed to an amazing label that can help me conquer my dreams and goals around the world.
I still look at this like the beginning as I am not where I want to be yet… but it is coming.
Thank You for having me.
Domo Reignz aka Brown Suga

Domo, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well I go by a couple names now…
Domo Reignz and Brown Suga
I have been independently chasing my goals without management for some years now and I encourage all of you to do the same. People use to always tell me I was doing too much at once and that it wouldn’t work – but look how it’s been working for me NEVER GIVE UP

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What I think helped me build my reputation within my Market is believing in myself and not allowing others opinions to stop me from proceeding to what I felt was the next stop. Of course I got many NO’s and sooo much constructive criticism over the years. It made me fight harder it made me learn and study my craft more to become greater.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson that I had to “unlearn” would be how growing up your taught that your “Day 1’s” are your day ones and always will have your back.
Over time I learned that is not true ! You have to understand although people want to see you doing good chasing your goals they won’t always be supportive until you make the big screen until they see others or bigger names support you.
Do not let that discourage you. Most of your support will not come from family and friends it will come from strangers.
But don’t worry your family and “Day 1’s will be back once they see you getting bigger they will be apologetic for not believing and supporting you.
This is something I noticed first hand, but it will be your decision if you’d like to accept them with open arms or maybe teach them a lesson for not believing in you.
