Alright, Charne thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I, Charne, developed my foundation and love for Nursing while volunteering & providing respite to hospice patients to honor the life of my grandmother Ida Belle. As a nursing student, I worked as a Telemetry patient care technician and used my acquired knowledge and skills to aide in my clinical growth and comfortably at the beside. These skills and experiences helped me to thrive in my clinical rotations, prepare for leadership, and fulfill the demands of a vigorous nursing program. After many bumps in the road I graduated from NCC, VP with Honors in 2018. I later completed my BSN in 2020 motivated by the stressors of COVID to find greater purpose.
I joined the MSSN Critical Care team in 2022 and continue to serve my local community with passion. As a local traveling nurse I made a personal oath to practice ethically, work hard to improve patient outcomes, advocate and support my patients mental health & overall well being. I also prayed to God for greater reach and impact and shortly after embarked on a life changing journey of non-profit global service as a Nurse with Purpose in South Africa.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
The milestones mentioned have opened new doors for me in Cardiology at NYU and sparked my passion to continue education and clinical preceptorship at the Master’s level. I love the nursing profession and desire to pour back into the future of nursing for the next generation. While working in Cardiology, a shift in my work life balance has also afforded me time to grow my business Bed of Roses Naturals to new heights. I am an ambassador for self love, aromatherapy, and healthy alternatives in the home fragrance and beauty industry.
My mission as the CEO is to model a healthy active lifestyle that doesnt discount the mind and body connection. Our team is charged with educating current & future clients on the benefits of aromatherapy, self care and new ways to add luxury, relaxation, and wellness practices to their daily routine.
As a ICU night nurse, I had to find new ways to combat anxiety, burnout, insomnia and daily stressors. Bed of Roses Naturals has been an outlet and light for me as well as my clients. Our products are luxurious, bold and restorative. As an allergy sufferer, our wow factor is ensuring the use of ethically sourced ingredients in each product.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I truly believe nursing and entrepreneurship are a calling. A calling to serve, create and connect with others in unique and intimate ways. I believe that compassion and empathy are precursors to human connection! Everyday I remember to meet people where they are while remembering the power of self preservation.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The power of unwavering focus by Dandapani is a book that has impacted my life in the last year.
My current philosophy and message to the masses is: ” The life you want is in reach, if only you can master the power of focus.”
I have realized the gap between now and where I desire to be in life has come down to my mindset, faith, habits and discipline. Time with self and meditation has allowed me to grow in self awareness and given me the confidence to trust myself and tackle waves of self doubt.
