We recently connected with Robin Lipnack and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Robin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
There are so many companies doing digital marketing ( which is needed) now. I saw a need for a business development company on a fractional level. There is a great need for building relationships and networking but most of all, follow up AFTER you meet someone. It is also important to reach out to contacts a few times (spacing the times out) if you don’t hear back right away. Don’t give up. I have also chosen to work in multiple industries, which is very rare. I have learned that we are all connected and know someone. I have worked in healthcare, legal, real estate related, finance, technology, professional sports, podcasts, and entertainment, For my 2 newest clients, I bring celebrities, athletes, and interesting people to their podcasts. I love what I do. It brings me joy to introduce companies or individuals and see them collaborate or do business together. One of my most interesting stories is that I was working with a former NFL player and he wanted me to get him an audition for Dancing with the Stars. I had no connections at all. I figured it out by calling ABC and I was connected to the casting agent and a music producer/casting agent. The NFL Player didn’t get picked but I kept the relationship with the music producer/casting agent and was able to be in the live audience. It was amazing! In fact, the producer/casting agent and I are working on a few projects now for casting in some movies, and he is assisting with celebrities for my clients who do podcasts. Oh, the Power of Relationships, you just never know!

Robin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I do business development for multiple companies in different industries healthcare, technology, real estate related, finance, sports, legal, technology, and more. We connect the company to whoever they need to connect with to grow their business. We set up the meetings, participate in meetings and do the follow-up. My level of integrity in working hard, following through on what I say I will do, and that I respond quickly makes me a bit different. My best advice is to be yourself, be authentic, and help others when you can.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I have my master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and have worked with neurologically impaired patients in hospitals and subacute rehab centers. I loved working with the patients but after a while illness, death and sadness began to take their toll on me. I wanted a happier job. I was very lucky. My brother was a chiropractor at the time living in South Fla ( he is now in ATL) He introduced me to a family-owned MRI Company. I had no marketing experience but did have a great healthcare background. They hired me the day that I interviewed, and I became the head of business development until they sold the company. That is when I started my own business.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I think that sometimes being a woman in a leadership business role can be challenging. I ve learned to set boundaries and be firm, yet professional.
