We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tamarra Holt. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tamarra below.

Tamarra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

In 2020, as we all know, the pandemic hit. I literally just had a baby in February and by March we basically had to stay in the house. So I instantly became a stay at home working mom and I had both boys at home with me. That was overwhelming to say the least! One of my closest friends noticed how well she thought I was handling things and she suggested I do a podcast. I was taken a back because I had such a rough time in the beginning. What made me go forward with the idea of something for moms is knowing that if I began to create content for moms, it would be helpful to me too, and it would hold me accountable to learn how to be a better mom for my children!

So now, I want to help build a community where moms feel safe, heard, seen and can learn from each other. We are all navigating through different stages of motherhood and I want this community to be able to help mothers whether they have a newborn or an adult child. There’s no school for moms, you know, there’s no set template or rule book, so I want to bring in women who can speak to moms regardless of what stage of motherhood they are currently in. I named the community “Hey Mama!” because I simply want moms to know that I see them! “Hey Mama” is simply acknowledging that moms are here, valued, and not alone!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Tamarra Holt and I am an author, mom, wife, and mom influencer on social media! I wrote a book called “Hey Mama You Got This! 21 Day-Starters for Moms” and I have a mom group on Facebook called “Hey Mama! Official Group”. I am in the business of encouraging and inspiring moms to become the best versions of themselves possible and to become a more whole person spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally! My community is faith-based, and I am proud of the safe space we have! We can be vulnerable with each other without feeling judged or ashamed of our thoughts and decisions. I have moms private message me often about the struggles they face or just simply thanking me for creating relatable and inspiring content. I value every mom and I feel so fulfilled helping moms across the country. This is all truly a blessing!

Have you ever had to pivot?

I worked for a well known food company for 8 years. I started off at the lowest level possible and I advanced within those 8 years to a very high position within the company. The salary was great and the work was challenging, but fun. The issue was that it required so much of my time that I was barely able to spend time with my husband and child. I knew I wanted another child and to go to school and something had to change to make this all happen. I had to make the very hard decision to leave my awesome job! I left that career for a more flexible desk job. Since then, I’ve been able to have another child, graduate with an MBA, and create my group for moms! It was one of the best decisions of my life!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Back in April, I decided to do something special for the moms in my area. I wanted to do a special mom’s night out event so the moms could get away from it all, connect with other moms, and simply have a good time! I didn’t know where all the funds were coming from to do this event, but I felt led to do it! There were plenty of obstacles along the way including finding a building, finding sponsors, and getting help to execute all the details. I needed to figure out all of these things within weeks and after selling out the event within a day! I was determined and never gave up, and the event turned out to be extremely successful! It was just what every mom needed including me! Sharing this story pushes me even now to step out on faith and do what I feel led to do despite the obstacles!
