We were lucky to catch up with Tyler Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tyler, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?

Taking a risk with investing in my career my whole life by myself has led to many rewards that I wouldnt have gotten if i was afraid to lose money and mess up my credit. It took time and being broke for years but now all that is paying off.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I got into Mobile DJing about 10 years ago but I have been producing music 12 years. My biggest accomplishment came in 2022 when I won a San Diego Music Award for best hip-hop song Padre Gang with Mitchy Slick. It also received radio play on the Padres sports talk radio station FM 97.3

As a mobile DJ I have been booked for weddings, corporate events, and private parties. Clients have enjoyed my skills so much that even the brides and grooms have taken photos with me in the booth.

How did you build your audience on social media?

I love how social media has helped my music reach people from all over the world. I was able to verify my facebook in 2013 making myself look legit and then in 2023 I verified my instagram without having to subscribe to Meta Blue, completing my legitimacy in the social media realm. People seeing the blue check mark makes them realize you are real.

To build an audience you have to post often, but also interact with people who follow the people you follow. People like when creatives follow and comment on their pictures.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

I have several goals that I had written down on a list years ago and each year I try to focus on one and take steps to accomplish it. The goal of winning an award meant writing a great song, getting the best rapper I can to make the feature, submit it to the SDMAs, pray to God for the nomination, when the academy approved my nomination, I bugged everyone that i would meet in person and online to go vote for me. That led to me getting the most votes out of all the nominees for the audience voting portion of the awards. The SDMA’s also realized I had the best hip-hop song in 2023.

My next goal is to go on a west coast tour and to get my youtube account monetized.
