We were lucky to catch up with Emily Nemeth recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Emily thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I’ve been focused on building a career since I was a teenager but I didn’t get serious about it until I turned 21… and even then not really serious until I was 25. I think when you are that age though you’re not thinking so much about a legacy rather than building a career and the future that it potentially can bring. Turning a chapter into my 30’s I found the tables turning. I now find I am asking myself different questions like “what do I want to give back?” and “who do I want to impact?” From the answers to my own questions I have found this deep desire to leave a legacy within the creative world beyond just my own success. I have been fortunate enough to sustain what I value and view as success in my career and now strive that with my achievements I can pour back into younger creatives and young entrepreneurs to see them succeed. I hope to to be remembered as someone who dreamed big, achieved big and gave big.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am the owner of an Event Space and Photography Studio in New York City called HERE Studio. We are a 5,000 sq ft space in hopes to shape the future of modern culture by creating inspiring content. I launched HERE Studio in the fall of 2023 following working in the marketing industry and event space for 7 years. After working in such creative industries I have cultivated a deep passion for creative people and helping bring creative visions to life. Whether that be through story telling, in-person experiences, events or photographs; I have immersed myself in this industry that I truly love and feel resides within me.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I worked closely with the SBDC office of Kings County (NY) to help guide me through the process of securing funding for HERE Studio. This was a new experience for me and one that has been very successful and rewarding. As a young entrepreneur I had no idea on where to start with opening a business…. I just started asking questions. I honestly can’t even remember who told me about the SBDC office and their resources but somehow I was connected with Pedro and he was my saving grace into this journey. Pedro was/is my business advisor who helped provide guidance, knowledge and resources into starting HERE. Through our relationship he was able to connect me with the proper tools to set me up for success in receiving funding and connecting me to the proper partners who granted me funding for HERE. If you are in a city, I encourage you to look up your local small business department center who can help support you in your process.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Ultimately, HERE Studio was created to help be an affordable resource to creatives and entrepreneurs who are looking to create and potentially grow their brand/careers. I have a deep desire to see younger creatives thrive and want to be a resource and mentor to anyone seeking direction or guidance in New York City!
