Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mindy Lowery. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mindy, appreciate you joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents taught me how to work hard, how to be independent and not wait for others, and to always remember where I came from.As a child, I remember both of my parents working very hard to provide for our family. If I remember correctly, my father had two jobs and my mom worked outside of the home and took care of things within the home. They instilled a work ethic in me that I will always have.
At the age of 14, my parents got divorced. While, I’m sure it wasn’t easy during this time, they continued to work hard and be leading examples for my sister and I.As I became an adult myself and starting working, I understood the importance of being a dedicated and doing all things with excellence.

Mindy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I, Mindy J., am a mother of two beautiful children, a Air Force Veteran, and Plus Size model and influencer.
Prior to 2019, I was content with working my 9-5 job and juggling my side hustle as a wedding planning. Things changed in 2020 when I decided to step out of my confort zone and do a birthday photoshoot. I posted the photos on Facebook and Instagram to celebrate myself like many do every day, not expecting anything from it.
Fast forward a few months and I was asked by a Florida photographer to shoot with him. Upon receiving the photos from that shoot, I was in awe! I honestly couldn’t believe it was me. Of course I posted these photos on my social platforms and to my surprise, I received at lot of positive feedback. Later in the year and I entered a contest for full figured women and won.
In 2021, I made a decision to start a modeling career.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
To be honest, I don’t really see myself as a creator. However, as a woman of faith, I know there’s purpose for my life. I believe that I was created and molded for a time such as this. With all that I can, I intend to encourage, empower, and inspire women to be themselves authentically no matter their size.
While I’m sure my goals will be ever changing, my current goals are to publish a 2023 calendar (all photos of Mindy J.) and to be featured in a Sports Illustrated Swim magazine.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of this journey, is hearing from other women on how I’ve inspired them. In 2021, I started this journey for me. I wasn’t so sure how I’d be received by family, let alone strangers. So as you can imagine, with such positive feedback it makes me want to go even further. I can’t stop and won’t stop now.
