Ebonie/Marjorie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

Whimsical Utopia is more than just a name. To us, it is more of a lifestyle. By definition, whimsical evokes playfulness, unpredictability (in a good way) and light hearted.

Our business is ran in a way where we see the magic and beauty of every interaction we have with our clients. No two picnics/events are the same, and we welcome each opportunity to create a lasting memory that is uniquely crafted, thoroughly planned with both our vision and keeping the client’s ideas also at the forefront.

During your time with WuCo, we want you to experience sheer wonder, and escape reality for a bit as we know how life can have its twists and turns.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We’re a small woman owned business that specializes in luxury picnics, and more recently event planning. We serve the DMV and we have been in business for almost 3 years.

We also offer an array of food and beverage items in house which we are aware that not many picnic services do. This means we are a one stop shop and clients do not have to worry about sourcing outside for this need.

We are proud to mention that our customer relations are top tier and we prioritize the client experience which has resulted us consecutive positive reviews.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

A lesson we had to unlearn is that although we may have good intentions toward an event (and the weather), it doesn’t always pan out that way.

We had an event last summer which was great but it was so windy and it kept blowing out the hookah’s the client had! It was unfortunate but the client was very understanding and took into consideration that we cannot control mother nature.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

Marjorie and Ebonie met while working at Wheaton Mall at Charlotte Russe back in 2009. They instantly had a connection and have been good friends ever since! We invite one another to family events alot!
