We caught up with the brilliant and insightful JAYNETTE LANCASTER a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
JAYNETTE, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful:
1.Differentiating Yourself: Standing out from the crowd is crucial. It’s not solely about the degrees you hold or the prestigious institutions you attended. Rather, it’s about your unique qualities, experiences, and perspectives that set you apart.
2. Resilience and Mindset: Success often emerges from overcoming setbacks. The ability to rise from perceived failures or challenging situations is a hallmark of successful individuals. Cultivating a positive mindset and tenacity is essential.
3. Beyond Accolades: While accolades and titles are commendable, they don’t define success entirely. Some remarkable people have impacted lives without these external markers. True success lies in making a difference, regardless of formal recognition.
4. Integrity and Honor: These qualities matter. Being honest, ethical, and treating others with respect builds trust and credibility. Your character speaks volumes about your success.
5. Self-Awareness: Knowing who you truly are—your strengths, weaknesses, and values—helps you navigate life effectively. Authenticity contributes significantly to personal and professional success.
6. Continuous Growth: Successful individuals never stop learning. They embrace personal and professional development, adapt to change, and remain curious. Growth fuels success.
Success is multifaceted and deeply personal. It’s not a one-size-fits-all journey, but rather a path shaped by individual choices, resilience, and character.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My journey began long before I established my business and brand. From an early age, I harbored a deep passion for uplifting and supporting others. Teaching and empowering individuals to thrive beyond their perceived limitations became my mission. What sets me apart? Let me share:
1. Adaptability: Seamlessly fitting into diverse environments—whether it’s with people, cultures, or industries—is my forte. I possess an innate ability to connect and understand various contexts.
2. Depth of Knowledge: My expertise spans multiple areas. From business operations to personal development, I bring a wealth of insights to the table.
3. Empathy and Open Heart: My work isn’t just about transactions; it’s about making a difference. I take pride in helping others, and my empathy fuels meaningful interactions.
4. A Pivotal Moment: As a divorced, single mother, my young child once said, “Mommy, I’ll stop asking for so much so you can work less.” That moment ignited change. Balancing multiple jobs while studying law, I knew I had to create something different.
5. Lancaster Linc Emerges: In 2001, I founded Lancaster Linc—a group of companies. Initially focused on business consulting, we advised clients on accounting, HR, and operations. But as life unfolded, so did our services.
6. Business Growth Catalyst: I’ve transformed average-grossing companies into multi-million-dollar ventures (8 figures). Managing enterprises with substantial revenues, I’ve witnessed the power of strategic guidance.
7. Our Unique Approach: Lancaster Linc isn’t just about business development; it’s about holistic growth. We weave a “linc” into every aspect of you and your business—empowering entrepreneurs, fostering sustainable success, and maximizing potential.
Our purpose lies in making your journey delightful, informative, and memorable. I believe in building success together!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
There came a pivotal moment when life took an unexpected detour—a twist that altered my path in profound ways. It was a time when illness disrupted my equilibrium, affecting not only my health but also my career and business.
Life had been cruising along, and I vividly recall preparing for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk. Walking 22 miles in a day was familiar territory for me, but this time, something was different. The breathlessness, the unexplained pains, and the swelling—all beyond the usual—gave me pause. In 2015, the diagnosis arrived: Lupus, accompanied by several other autoimmune conditions. Suddenly, my daily functioning and life itself demanded a radical shift.
For the next three years, I grappled with flare-ups, seeking control over my health while striving to remain a productive force in both my business and personal life. Yet, this battle came at a cost. The business scaled back significantly—we lost profits, clients, and had to part ways with employees. It felt like defeat, a weighty burden of failure.
But amidst the setbacks, I discovered resilience. The journey with Lupus taught me profound lessons.
Today, I stand not as a failure but as someone who weathered storms, adjusted sails, and found strength in vulnerability. Lupus reshaped my narrative, revealing resilience where I once saw defeat.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
In my experience, communication, trust, and credibility have been pivotal in shaping my reputation within the market. The majority of my clients come through referrals or platforms where I’ve shared my insights.
Why do these factors matter?
Communication: Clear, effective communication builds bridges. Whether it’s with clients, colleagues, or the wider audience, conveying your message authentically fosters trust.
Trust: Trust is the currency of business. When clients trust your expertise, they become loyal advocates. Word-of-mouth referrals thrive on trust.
Credibility: A positive brand image is essential. Cultivating credibility through consistent actions, quality service, and ethical practices sets you apart.
Remember, your reputation isn’t solely about what you say—it’s also about what others perceive. It can make or break opportunities and shape the trajectory of your business.
