Hi Ilya, thanks for joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?

As for now I am freelance DP( Direct of Photography), based in Los Angeles. Starting day one in year 2021, once my wife and I moved to States, I decided to do only the job related to film industry. At the very beginning it was tough. First year I shot video and photo content for s=Social Media. Not the best job I imagined. But slowly, step by step I started to join bigger and bigger productions.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Now I am freelance DP( Cinematographer), person behind the camera based in Los Angeles. Shooting movies, music videos and commercials.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

Since my graduation from University of Fine Arts I new I will be independent artist. I didn’t know what exactly I will earn money with, but clearly sure, that I will spend zero days in office in my life. The goal was always spend no day without creating something. It is like all your inner mental body itching every second until you will take camera or pencil to create. And I can consider this feeling very close to drug addiction as it described in books. You will be happy for a second. Before and after you will suffer. The only reason you still continue to do it is you can not stop. So I decided to keep this energy and share my feelings with people. probably it is the main core power of creativity. You can not stop it. just let it go as it goes.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

At certain moment every artist feel himself smaller and less important than art that he create. He feels as a conductor, not an engine. Transmission which deliver motion from engine to wheels. This feeling is the best and clearest will of what ever out there – Supreme creature, nature, God. Bigger than human, vast ocean of love and life. At my opinion this is the most rewarding moment for an artist. Meaning and purpose as is.
