We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rie Kaba . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rie below.
Rie , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I turned 32 on 3.31.24 and I wish I had stopped doubting my abilities long before I turned 32. I wish I would have taken my dreams sooner. I wish I would’ve have posted my content long time ago or created my own journal to sell or written that book – just did everything on my vision board but with all of that said at 32 there’s a level of confidence and maturity that my younger self didn’t have. If I would’ve did everything or achieved everything I wanted to at that time, I believe I would’ve mishandled it and lost way more than I needed to lose. So the time is now and the best has yet to come.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Rie Kaba – I have been in this industry for many moons – it started at a very young age – before my sisters came along, I was the only child so my mom would always have me around my boy cousins, I was playing in dirt, climbing trees, wrestling and karate – being everything but a girl lol! One day my mom was so fed up and said I am signing you up for Barbizon School and that’s it, I didn’t give birth to a boy, I had a girl. I was annoyed but this turned out to be one of the best decisions my mother made for me. I learned about all the girly things – I was involved in modeling and acting. I learned about what works for my body type, my skin tone and how-to walk-in heels, sit properly, set the table, eat at the table and how to be confident. Barbizon ignited something in me that changed my life. Since graduating the school my entire objective has been to share what I have learned with as many women as possible. I have always been a plus size babe, and it used to make me want to hide in clothes and hide behind others but since building confidence i wear my clothes however I want and not afraid to stand front and center in any setting. Confidence building has been the foundation of all my businesses whether it was my make up line, my styling business, content creating and or workshops. I set apart by really digging deep into how you feel about yourself, why do you feel that way. why have you limited yourself while shopping for your clothes or dressing up for an occasion, what does confidence mean to you – once those have been worked, we then move to finding what works for you and how you want to show up – this is more than clothes. My proudest moment is to see people I have worked with standing firm in who they are and confidence oozing from within while looking fly as ever. In the future, I plan on continuing to grow my content, write a book, grow a community, host events and rebrand my cosmetic line. I know life is about to change for me soon and I am here for it!! Stay Stylish and have faith always!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, it would be when people connect with your art – whether that’s styling, pictures or anything creative. we all want to be accepted and understood – and to have people really get it and love it and support by sharing your work with others. Outside of being paid that’s the greatest feeling for me.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
To build the confidence of women that look like me and inspire them to heal and discover who they were before the limiting beliefs, the trauma, the drama, and the noise of others. When you feel confident you can move mountains. magical things happen for you and others.
