ALVIN KEAN, appreciate you joining us today. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?

Yes I try to take vacations when ever I can . I usually do my personal projects on my vacations because is something true to my interests. I have made my hobby of making pictures and films my business . Doing projects on vacations allows me to keep doing my creative work . I don’t rest , I just change my pace from working on deliverables for my clients to waiting for the the pictures to happen . Is a slower and a self reflection pace.

ALVIN KEAN, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I somehow fell into the industry. I was in NY for a trip trying to figure what I wanted to do in life maybe 17-18 years ago . My roommate at the time is a hairstylist doing advertisements and editorials. He was super cool so I inspired to be a hairstylist so I went on set with him to be his assistant. We quickly found out I was not cut out for hair. But on set I love looking at all the different complicated lighting set ups and I wanted to learn them . I have been doing photography since I was 15 but being on set is a totally different and I wanted to learn this skill . I made friends with the lighting assistants and started to intern for them . Working on their portfolio shoot for free in exchange for the opportunity to learn and be on set .

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?

Be real , they are real people with the same problem . If you truly care for them and their brand they will feel it. And if they vibe we can create incredible work together.
My work is all about collaboration and team work .
Is not rocket science is coming together to create something interesting .

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

To genuinely understand the world has been my goal . I started traveling since I was 15 the camera has been my companion since . To answer the questions the goal is still to learn about the world and the camera to capture a picture as a memento for these lessons the world has for me
