We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Johnny Deadly. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Johnny below.
Johnny , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
It’s kind of a funny story, the first time I saw back to the future… when Michael J Fox played Johnny B Goode that is when I realized I wanted to play guitar. That was it!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Johnny Deadly Trio has been around now for about 12 years. We have a familiar yet original sound with a melting pot of American roots music, surf, and the sound of high heels clicking down the sidewalk. We are very energetic and no show is ever the same we aim to entertain and there is never a dull moment! We play Rock-n-Roll that is full of danger, mystery, lust, and wild abandon!
We love helping people forget there problems for a while and just get a chance to really cut loose. Johnny Deadly Trio plays anywhere there is a power outlet. Parties, weddings, Quin ciñeras dive bars, and patios.
The thing that sets us apart is energy when we take the stage… We TAKE the stage. We also have some super secret rock-n-roll ingredients. But, don’t take my word for it! Come to a show and see for yourself
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When we first started out I didn’t know much, we had some songs and a real willingness to put it all on the line, to get on stage. We were all pretty inexperienced and looking back on old videos or sound clips I can honestly Say we weren’t bad, but definitely not good either. A lot of people liked us and a lot of people didn’t hahaha! You keep going though, you listen to the criticism and you take it with a grain of salt. We Never gave up! Kept practicing and working at being better, and better (that will never end)
When we look back on those days they were tough times but also really fond memories. Johnny Deadly Trio has seen a lot and the only original members are the lead guitarist/singer/founder and the bassist
12 years off and on through ups and downs but we are still here and only getting stronger.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Get out and support your local musicians! Immerse yourself in culture, laugh and dance. Music is so important, and I’m talking real music were people are actually playing instruments. Share your gratitude and thank them for keeping art and culture alive. Dance, drink and be merry! If you’re a venue or bar owner don’t be cheap! If you have good music treat them well. Being a musician is not an easy road and most local talented musicians barley make enough to scrape by! It should not be that way, love us and we will love you more
