We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Joseph Patrick Moore. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Joseph Patrick below.
Joseph Patrick, appreciate you joining us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I’m happy and don’t wonder about a “regular job”.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a bass player, composer, and producer. I’m currently the bassist and backup leader/Assistant Music Director for the Cirque Du Soleil Las Vegas residency show, “Mystere”. I started on January 1, 2022, and have played 400+ shows this year. Prior to Cirque Du Soleil, I’ve released many solo projects under my name and have toured/recorded/worked with many artists such as Earl Klugh, Stewart Copeland, Bob James, Col. Bruce Hampton, Bo Bice (American Idol), Chris Duarte and many others.
Additionally, I’m involved in a record label – BlueCanoeRecords.com
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Freedom! It’s always a blank canvas and I’m willing to draw outside the lines. At times, you have to stay within the frame or boundaries, but there are still ways to be creative within those parameters. The most rewarding aspect is taking something from the invisible and bringing it to the visible.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
As an artist/creative, there were many times in my career when I never knew where the next paycheck was coming from. Somehow (by the Grace of God), it always worked out…There are many people (non-creatives) that need to have a budget, and always know what to expect monetarily. In the creative field, it doesn’t always fit neatly into a box like that. You have to be willing to believe in your art, and yourself, and be willing to take chances with your creativity. Once it is in your DNA, you can’t just really turn that off.
