We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Emilio Marz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Emilio, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I was always the one on the back burner not really getting too many opportunities or just being used for my talents and not getting any recognition. There are a lot of gate keeper stunting the growth of other artist in my city and surrounding city I won’t to change that. Grinding hard on my craft and surrounding with other talented people that went through my same experience and connect myself to the right people that can truly push my craft and others around me.

Emilio, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born in Dallas Texas but now resides Greensboro NC. I’m West African and Middle Eastern and I am 38 years old. I got into art since I could pick up a pencil but I didn’t get serious until 7 years ago I told myself that this way going to be my path and it’s all or nothing. My business is call Marz Nation I do custon Illustrations , logos, and portrait illustrations. My style of art is a combination of western cartoons mixed with eastern anime. Sense starting my business my clients always say that they love how I connect them buy build a relationship with them. I feel thats important if you want to get the best results for your clients and also having a great turnaround rate.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective way I get my clients is by word of mouth. Showing up and presenting yourself in a positive way and making they people around you be attracted to your energy make a connection that makes them want more and and being able to stand by your word.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I learned that you don’t have to follow the trends to be successful or have millions of followers. Trying to do what everyone is doing as fast as trends and clicks and make you sad and depressed. I’ve learned that when your doing your best to keep up with everything that’s going on around you it makes the reason why you do what you not as fun.
