Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zoë Davis . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Zoë, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?

I’ve been able to earn a full-time living from my creative work since 2018. In 2018 I left my career as a public school teacher, relocated to Texas from Mississippi, and focused fully on my goal as a national speaker and influential author. I was booked in August to speak with Erica Latrice in Atlanta, in October in Mississippi with Boss Ladies Pray, and then in November by Patience Montgomery for her “Flippin’ the Script” Conference to speak on my keynote message – sexual purity.

However, something landed in my hands that I didn’t plan. Our publishing company was officially also birthed September 2018. That August, I was speaking with a phenomenal business woman, Rakeita Bradford, and when I explained how I had been publishing my own books and also helping others publish theirs – she said, “Stop playing, you have a publishing company.” Right there on that call, she gave me the run down on how to operate in my gifts and launch an official publishing company; and then financially invested in our company by hiring a graphic designer to design our logo! That was the birth of Zoe Life Coaching, Consulting, and Publishing (aka Zoe Life CCP)! Between August and December, we published or assisted publish ten books!

Needless to say, with the support of my lord husband, it was on from there and we never looked back! Since 2018, we have published over thirty of our own books, paid thousands in royalties, established residual income for clients, assisted others in establishing their own publishing companies, published a digital magazine, planners, journals, published our first audio book, and the list goes on and on!

We have thrived by creating packages that are tailored to our customer needs and for me, one of the biggest accomplishments is navigating through the trends to make sure that authors effectively brand themselves! We offer affordable packages while still over delivering quality services and because of that we have gained repeat customers who delight in referring us to others!

Zoë, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m one of those entrepreneurs that has a hand in multiple things – but each plays a part of the whole!

While I operate as a coach, consultant, and publisher of Zoe Life CCP, I am an author still, and I work to establish my brand to my audience as an author and speaker as well. Yet, that literally just scratches the surface of my life as an entrepreneur! :)

All of these things really came about at the same time. Early 2018, I had an author who wanted coaching on how to publish her book, as well as a song. Then I landed another client that summer. By August we were publishing both of their books! The highlight for me was both authors had been sitting on their books for years!

What I realized then was – I had a gift to birth the visions of my clients. Until then, I had been only operating as a teacher. When I left the public school career – it was like, all of my gifts expanded! I found more passion and more drive to see those around me successful, especially as an author and publisher!

Most of the time, a publisher is just someone who makes sure your book is released. However I saw a need to pour into authors during their journey – to “birth” their books to life. Ironically, I had just completed my life coaching certification in February of 2018 as well; so it seemed all of the gifts were aligning as the Most High guided these clients to me.
Clients begin to call me their “midwife” and I identified with that a lot, understanding that I have been gifted with the anointing of spiritual exhortation. I didn’t know at the time that the Most High Yahweh would bless my hands with such a business that allowed me to operate fully in this gift.

Although coaching, writing and publishing are a deep passion of mine, I humbly submit myself to other business ventures with my husband, who I married in 2018 as well! :) He is extremely multitalented in the music, video production, and much more. While the publishing company was launching, he also launched a new primary business for us – Davis Tranz, which allowed us to serve the community daily by delivering their needs. We delighted in that because we both have a heart to serve and it is fulfilling to know that we make a difference in bringing ease into one’s life by delivering their needs to them. Sometimes it has been in the form of their medicines, grocery, or lunch. We have seen the difference that this makes in our own lives, and wanted to be a gateway for the same needs for others.

Over the years, our businesses have expanded statewide and we’ve established into a full fledge sustainable e-commerce business at WitnessLegend.com that provides not only our foundational services but things such as faith based apparel, our online bookstore, business services like social media management and more.

It seems like a lot, but everything we do kind of ties in to simply one thing – serving. That is what makes us different from a lot of businesses. First, we desire to see all of our clients successful and we adjust however we can to ensure their success. Secondly, we both have a desire to serve so many of the visions we have had, have allowed us to serve the community we love.

How’d you meet your business partner?

I met my business partner in 2016, who is now my lord husband. We began talking through Facebook messenger and eventually just the phone. We didn’t take a romantic interest rather, we spent a lot of time talking about our gifts, passions, and future plans. Along the way, we realized we had grown up in the same neighborhood and known each other by mutual connections. This was a huge plus.

His passion was music and videography, mine was writing of course but I was in a season where I had envisioned seeing my books as movies. The first night we met in person, we talked about more of the visions that we could see ourselves fulfilling in life. I gave him a scene I had once envisioned for a book that I had been writing; and told him I wanted to film it. He said, “We can do that,” with a twinkle in his eyes.

I was so amazed. I was intrigued. It was like we synced. From then, we both just fell into supporting each other. With me, and his music, with him, my books. But it kept growing and before I knew it – we married, established our LLC, and created DBAs under it for each business idea.

It’s an amazing feeling and we have accomplished so much together. To date, we have produced several visual ideas – as much of his ideas have shaped our we market our books; and we have officially produced an international film by the title of “Hebrew Israelites Debunked” (a documentary) that’s accessible through Tubi TV, YouTube Movies, and more!

How did you build your audience on social media?

I’ve been able to use social media to build not just my business but others as well! I followed alot of my lord husband’s advice on how to utilize social media marketing and it grew our audience. We both then continue to study social media marketing through various courses and videos; it would take another interview to specify how we built our businesses! :)

But if I could give ONE tip, outside of STUDYING, I would say: make sure you’re not spamming people – give them value! Educate them! Be SOCIAL! Then give them social proof on how your services can enhance or change their lives! You don’t want your page to continually show your products, services, and business information. While advertising is important, I don’t recommend constantly trying to shove your products/services/information every single day all day. You want to truly connect with your audience and take building your connections seriously through social media. Don’t think just a post is enough.

And of course, I would say: BE PRESENT! If you have social media pages for your business – USE IT (and not your personal page). Again, another interview. :)

Ultimately, it’s a free tool and I recommend harnessing it and making it useful to your business.
