We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dreaprende a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dreaprende, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Ever since I was young I had interest in music. I remember when I got my first iPod Shuffle (the blue one), it changed the game for me. I loved the storytelling thru songs and music videos and it inspired me to want to do the same for other people. I feel like in Latin music there is not enough representation with female artists (besides pop music) so I plan to help fill in that gap with other new female Latin urban artists.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Dreaprende (Drea-pren-day). I am a female Mexican-American Independent Music Artist. I create under the genres of Latin Urban, Hip-Hop, Rap, & Pop music. I consider myself a songwriter, creating projects that tell stories about struggle and overcoming obstacles thru passion, drive, & ultimately having fun thru the process. I was born and raised in the fabulous city of Las Vegas, which I reference in my lyrics and visuals often. You can listen to me on Apple Music, Spotify, & your preferred music streaming platform.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Latin Urban Music is a genre primarily dominated by male artists. I became an artist to help give female Latina artists visibility in the genre and to help inspire the youth because I didn’t have many female urban artists to look up to. Now with social media we all have more visibility and we are on our way for sure! My goal in life is to also cross over between the English and Spanish music markets.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I’m sure you are aware by now, but there has been much debate over the consequences of AI in art and music. Creativity is a priceless language that connects us to other human beings. The likeness of our voices being used without our consent has a negative impact on the industry for sure. Instead of listening to AI covers on TikTok and YouTube, support your favorite artists by streaming their music and purchasing their merch. Be sure to check out my latest single – Espacio, out now!
