Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nia Huger. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The story behind the name “NymphoArtistry Beauty & Wellness” is one that reflects my journey of embracing creativity, individuality, and self-love. When I embarked on the journey of creating my esthetics business back in 2017, I knew I wanted a name that would not only stand out but also encapsulate the essence of what I stand for. Being drawn to words that start with the letter “N,” I stumbled upon “Nympho” – a word that certainly raised eyebrows but also intrigued me with its unconventional nature. I saw an opportunity to redefine its meaning, to transform it from a taboo concept into something empowering and liberating.
For me, “Nympho” embodies the idea of obsessively embracing one’s inner beauty and sensuality. It’s about unapologetically loving and celebrating oneself, inside and out. With the tagline “Obsess yourself with the sexiness within you,” I wanted to convey the message that self-care isn’t selfish – it’s essential, it’s sexy, and it starts from within.
Every aspect of my business, from the name to the services offered, reflects this philosophy. My services, with names like “Foreplay Facial,” “Go Deeper” Deep Pore Facial, and “I Just Wanna Quickie” Facial, are playful nods to the idea that self-care can be fun, indulgent, and yes, a little naughty in nature if you intend for it to be!
Ultimately, “NymphoArtistry Beauty & Wellness” isn’t just a name – it’s a declaration. It’s a reflection of my personality – eccentric, bold, and unapologetically outside the box. It’s a statement of my commitment to helping clients discover their inner radiance and embrace their individuality with confidence and pride.
In a world where conformity often reigns, I’m proud to offer a sanctuary where clients can explore, indulge, and celebrate their own unique individuality. Because at the end of the day, beauty isn’t about fitting in – it’s about standing out and embracing every facet of what makes us uniquely beautiful.
Nia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Thank you for the opportunity to delve into the heart of NymphoArtistry Beauty & Wellness and share the essence of our work. At NymphoArtistry Beauty & Wellness, I proudly wear the badge of a licensed esthetician, offering an array of beauty and wellness services that encompass everything from aromatherapy facials and corrective skincare treatments to intimate skincare treatments, hair removal, teeth whitening, gems, makeup services, and consulting.
The uniqueness of my business is embedded right in its name. While ‘Nympho’ may typically conjure associations with obsession, in my space, it signifies being obsessed with the intrinsic sexiness within oneself. It’s about tending to inner health and outer beauty and understanding that doing so enhances both internally and externally. My forte lies in facials, primarily focusing on extraction techniques and deep pore cleaning, but the “NymphoArtistry Experience” goes beyond technical skills. Imagine a realm where music also serves as a therapeutic background, occasionally punctuated by a song escaping my lips. I bring my passion for singing into this space, adding another dimension to the relaxation and healing process.
Client feedback speaks volumes about the immersive experience we offer. From the complete vibe of the environment to the meticulous attention to detail in treatments like intimate skincare (vajacial) procedures, clients have praised everything from the ambiance to the complimentary wine, showcasing how every aspect, from aromas to lighting, touches all five senses in the most intimate way possible.
My journey has been one of perseverance and authenticity, carving out a niche despite initial challenges in finding mentorship within the community. Yet, staying true to my vision has led to unexpected support and recognition, culminating in opportunities like this interview, affirming that I’m making waves in the industry and leaving my mark in rooms I’ve yet to grace.
Beyond our unique blend of services and ambiance, what truly sets NymphoArtistry Beauty & Wellness apart is my unorthodox nature. I’ve always danced to the beat of my drum, and this characteristic spills over into my business, creating an experience that defies convention and invites clients to embrace self-love and self-care as tangible indulgences and conscious lifestyle choices.
In essence, NymphoArtistry Beauty & Wellness promises more than just skincare treatments; it’s a sanctuary where clients can immerse themselves in love and luxury, leaving refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to conquer the world with confidence.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my platform and clientele on social media has been a journey marked by determination, resilience, and a deep passion for my craft. When I made the decision to transition from mortgage banking to entrepreneurship in October 2017, I had no intention of looking back. Inspired by the possibility of financial freedom and a desire to create a better future for myself and my son, I took a leap of faith and invested in a network marketing opportunity after stumbling upon a compelling video on Facebook. Though initially met with skepticism, this decision proved to be a pivotal moment in my journey, unbeknownst to me. With the guidance of my mentor, Portia Hoover, and the support of my other mentor Jessica Ramos, I learned so much about how to effectively market yourself, how important your social media presence really is, algorithms, the importance of quality imaging and wording when it came to posting, building groups, how important consistency was, and the list goes on and on. These very things would transfer over when I began laying the foundation for my next venture: NymphoArtistry Beauty and Wellness. By early 2018, my focus shifted towards the beauty industry, particularly lashes and brows, driven by my passion for makeup and skincare.
Enrolling in the Esthetics program at the Charleston Cosmetology Institute from March to August 2019 was a transformative experience that equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in my field. However, it wasn’t until a particular class in the curriculum, where we were taught about the fundamentals of starting our own business in the beauty industry, that the realization dawned on me. The class emphasized the essentials of starting your own business in the beauty industry, how to determine your pricing, how to know your target audience, and then it hit me, I needed to start building my clientele before graduating! Prior to that, my plan was to keep what I had going on under wraps until after graduation. However, thanks to the insights gained from that class, I recognized the need to start advertising myself early, ensuring a smooth transition from school to the real world and laying the groundwork for my future business. One of my instructors, “Desiree”(insider Lol) still praises me ‘til this day for how I went about getting myself out there and even made it her business to share my experience with her future students.
Armed with this newfound insight, I wasted no time in taking action. I created a booking site and began encouraging people to book time slots as if I were already operating my own brick-and-mortar establishment. Additionally, I proactively allowed my peers and instructors to record me while performing services, knowing that these recordings would be valuable content for social media. By sharing these videos, I not only showcased my skills and expertise but also engaged with my audience in a meaningful way. Word-of-Mouth became my best friend!
In May 2019, I took the leap and did my fist public post inviting people to experience my services. The response was overwhelming, and I treated each client with the same dedication and care that I would in my own business. This approach laid the foundation for the success of NymphoArtistry Beauty and Wellness, creating a loyal clientele who appreciated the quality and personalized touch of my services.
As for social media, I leveraged platforms like Facebook and Instagram to showcase my work, shared insights into my journey, and connected with potential clients. By sharing before-and-after photos, educational content about skincare, and behind-the-scenes glimpses into my business, I was able to engage my audience and attract new clients.
Throughout this process, authenticity, consistency, and engagement remained key. I continued sharing my journey, insights, and expertise on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, connecting with potential clients and building a loyal following. By staying true to myself and my brand, I was able to create a strong and supportive community that continues to champion my journey.
For those just starting to build their social media presence, my advice is simple: be authentic, consistent, and engaging. Share your story, showcase your expertise, and provide value to your audience. Building a social media following takes time and effort, but by leveraging your unique talents and staying true to your vision, you can create a strong and loyal community that supports you every step of the way.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the most significant pivots in my journey occurred when I made the decision to transition from a stable career in mortgage banking to entrepreneurship. This shift wasn’t just a change in profession; it was a fundamental reevaluation of my priorities and goals in life. The catalyst for this pivot was the realization that my son’s autism wasn’t for a 9 to 5. It forced me to confront the reality that my previous career path was no longer sustainable if it meant sacrificing my son’s well-being. After seven tumultuous years balancing work and caring for my son, I reached a breaking point when my boss gave me an ultimatum: choose between my son’s care and my job.
In October 2017, I made the heart-wrenching decision to leave my career behind and become a full-time, single parent to my special needs son. This transition thrust me into the world of entrepreneurship with no clear roadmap ahead. It was a leap of faith driven by a deep desire to create a better future for my family and myself.
Initially, I explored opportunities in network marketing, drawn by the promise of financial freedom and flexibility. However, I found myself gravitating towards the beauty industry, particularly lashes and brows, fueled by my passion for makeup and skincare.
This pivot led me to enroll in the Esthetics program at the Charleston Cosmetology Institute in 2018 but I didn’t start until March of 2019. I honed in on my skills and immersed myself in the world of esthetics. Despite the challenges and uncertainties that came with transitioning to a new career path, I embraced the opportunity to pursue my passion and build a business that aligned with my values and aspirations.
Throughout this journey, I’ve had to navigate numerous obstacles and setbacks, but each pivot has ultimately led me closer to fulfilling my vision for NymphoArtistry Beauty & Wellness. It’s a reminder that pivoting isn’t just about changing direction; it’s about adapting to new circumstances, seizing opportunities, and staying true to your values and goals.
In hindsight, I see that every pivot has been a stepping stone towards personal and professional growth. It’s taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and the importance of embracing change as a catalyst for progress. And while the path forward may be uncertain at times, I’m confident that each pivot brings me closer to realizing my dreams and making a positive impact in the world
