We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marcia Ali. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marcia below.
Marcia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
In our family prior to Covid we did family dinner on Sundays. It is the responsibility of everyone to bring a dish. My daughter was traveling and I asked my 11 year old granddaughter what she wanted to fix? With no answer at hand one thing I knew was I didn’t feel like cooking. I suggested we make a Charcuterie board. With neither of knowing where to start we made a shopping list and did a quick grocery store run. Within two hours we had a masterpiece and headed out the door. From that day forward we have been known as Out The Door Charcuterie.
Marcia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am actually a Behavioral Health Nurse by profession. I work in addiction and recovery. Preparing charcuterie has actually become therapeutic to me. With our constant drive to provide extraordinary customer service every time along with freshness and exceptional presentation has built our brand beyond our wildest dreams. From cured meats to cheeses, fruits, crudités and seasonal treats we promise to deliver a always fresh and flavorful product.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When we created our first charcuterie board for family dinner I posted it on Facebook in our community page. I simply posted it because my granddaughter helped me and I was proud of her. Surprisingly the likes were over the top and a neighbor asked if I sold them. She shared my post and requested that I make a charcuterie tray for her. Of course I obliged. From that one post and hundreds of boards later the rest is history.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I struggled with rejection for years. I was always comparing myself to others. I had to unlearn my need to be who others thought I should be. Many can work in the same industry but no one can do it like you.
The lesson of learned is that Philippians 4:13 is true. I really can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
