We caught up with the brilliant and insightful NymityMedia a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nymity, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I have created an image for this passion project that I call NYMITY. The name comes from anonymity- anonymous. The reason I capture started when I got to experience feeling so authentically seen, but my art remains faceless and largely nameless online because it’s not about me, I don’t need my name known, even my friends in the industry know me by a nickname. NYMITYmedia is about Capturing the Effects of Music. Whether it be the musicians pouring their heart out on stage, or someone in the crowd having that moment of authentic self-expression, that is what I aim to capture- the impact. I was so fortunate to have that for myself and even more fortunate now to capture that for others.

Nymity, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Before moving to Colorado, I was working 3 jobs, 7 days a week. I felt like I was running on a mouse wheel for stability and still not able to tread water. None of these jobs had anything to do with the music industry or photography. I knew what I wanted but had no idea how to get there, I didn’t have adequate camera equipment or any business knowledge, much less any free time. What I did have was a basic entry-level DSLR Canon Rebel and a lot of passion.
I focused on a mentality of “do what you can with what you have, where you are right now.”
What I can tell you from experience is that if you want something bad enough, you will always make time to work towards it.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Be so kind and be genuine in that kindness. Support the artists you look up to. This industry is only competition if you want it to be. There will always be good people in the same line of work with an outlook that you align with, find them. Cultivate your foundation on intentional and genuine connections. Kindness, support and passion go a long way.
