Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Khaylon Randall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Khaylon , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry? Any stories or anecdotes that illustrate why this matters?
I believe that most jobs honestly forget about the PERSON they hired. If you nurture and grow the person, they will show their strengths more, become more secure in themselves and the employer and be able to be vulnerable and natural. We are so used to just having worker bots that we have lost a sense of humanity in the work place.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I got the idea for the brand when I would go into stores and purchase products for my skin/body. After spending loads of money for things that didn’t work, I started researching different herbs and ailments for my skin type. After my research, I got into formulation and finally created something MY skin was happy with! During college many people asked for my recommendations and I suggested what worked for me. My friends and family told me I should begin selling and sharing the wealth and the journey began. It came to a hard stop when I had brain surgery in 2020. During my long recovery time, I spent time building the brand, logo, name, products ect. And finally, in Feb 2021, on my birthday, I launched Mahina Skincare. I am most proud of how authentically built the brand is, and it is very close to my heart. It is not a job or task, but a passion.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Honestly, constantly showcasing my own skin routine, skin issues and experimentation. People love watching a process and in that, I believe It helped people trust me and even gain more interest in their own skin routine.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
LOL – Honestly, I went through no special process to gain funds to start my business. I wasn’t even confident that it would even come to a point of selling out and people actively wanting to purchase. I had my money saved up for another DIY project and decided to reinvest into my business!
