We recently connected with Kiki Michelle Singletary-Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Kiki Michelle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To be successful, one must be totally committed to their goals. Commitment breeds a desire to avoid distractions, pitfalls and forces one to stay focused. One must be willing to pivot whenever warranted so they can bring the success to fruition. Successful individuals have to be willing to be honest with themselves and the scope of their plan. Successful people are willing to invest in themselves and surround themselves with others who have attained a level of success as well. Success mean to celebrate one’s accomplishments and failures all the same. Success mean to also admit failure, learn from it and to set goals. Successful individuals are willing to take a look at the changing demographics and their industry, and see how they can continue to keep their customers first. Successful people are always promoting their brand, product and/or service. Success is within each of us.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
One of the most valuable assets we all have is our reputation. We must do what we can to treat other with respect and kindness. While the world is huge, our dealings with others makes it obvious that the world is a much smaller place. There is a thing called reciprocity and we should all be mindful that we reap what we sow. Our reputations are formulated by the interactions we have with others and their assessments of said interactions. While we certainly cannot please everyone, we can always do our best to operate with integrity and grace, I have built a reputation in the market which has allowed others to send referrals and other opportunities my way. I always make it a priority to treat people the way I want to be treated, and it has worked well.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
When managing a team, we should always seek to get the perspective of the team members. Rule number 1 is to always treat others with respect. Once a team begins to feel that they do not matter, or their perspectives are diminished, then it can be downhill from there. Team members always come from a varying degree of expertise, expectations and value. In maintaining high morale, we must always be sure to value everyone and to acknowledge their contributions as valuable. Managing a team is not for the faint of heart and should never be taken lightly. Managers should schedule weekly meetings just for a morale check and for opinions to be expressed. Morale can be volatile depending upon the environment, and it is the collective responsibility of the manager and the team to keep morale as high as possible,
