Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Patricia Lima. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Patricia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
Being an artist is one of the hardest professions in my opinion. Why is that? Well, we are constantly dealing with rejection and No after No. Is not an easy path, we gotta love it to our core, otherwise the obstacles of life just throw us of the road. I’ve always wonder what would I do if I didn’t persuade my career as an artist, and what scares me the most is that I haven’t found anything else I could do. Being an artist is my only option, because it’s what I love to do.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my journey as a dancer. It’s being my passion even before I could walk. I always say that performing and being an artist have saved me. I was sometimes scared to be “out there” speak my mind and opinions, but once I was in a stage is like no one could touch me or hurt me, I could express myself in all forms and that would be safe. Throughout my life I learned how to bring that confidence in my day to day life, and today I can say that art is my savior. I traveled the world as a performer and then I started acting in Dubai, where I was living for the past 6 years. Dubai was limiting for me, so I’ve decided to move in to Los Angeles and go deep in my craft. Life as an actor is not easy in here, we gotta get moving and learning and training in order to get a better chance. I’m proud of myself because regardless of the challenges I chose not to stop, I don’t give up and I won’t, that’s something that I’m not familiar with.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I was 13 years old, I asked my father to put me in a private English school because one day I would be an artist in here, now, I come from a small city in Brazil, living abroad was something out of our reality, wouldn’t be possible at all. My dad said he wouldn’t spend the money on it and if I really wanted it I would have to pay it myself. Well, I did. I found a job at a cafeteria where I worked on weekends, and I raised the money for my English school. I’m proud of myself because regardless of the challenges I chose not to stop, I don’t give up and I won’t. Giving up is not something I’m familiar with.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
