We recently connected with Tettieara Coleman and have shared our conversation below.
Tettieara, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
My name is Tettieara Coleman and I am the owner of Tidy Up With Tee. Tidy Up With Tee is a professional cleaning service. I provide a number of services that include cleaning residential, commercial, and Airbnb properties as well. I also provide closet/space organizing for my clients. I cleaned my first home for an elderly couple when I was maybe 14-15 years old. They lived in our neighborhood. I would often babysit for my aunt and would always clean her home while babysitting. I have always had a love for cleaning.
My company Tidy Up With Tee was started up in 2020.A great friend help me to come up with the catchy name. It was so fitting. I had my son who is now 3 and working in corporate America in banking as a CSR. During the time the transition with working and a newborn just was not working. One day a friend of mine asked for me to come organize her closet. I did and decided to take it full throttle after some time of going back and forth with myself about it I decided to turn it into a real Cleaning and organizing business. What made me different from other cleaning companies is that I travel. I operate in SC,GA, and NC,
I always say this business is my baby. I birthed it and have been blessed to see my business grow. It has been a beautiful journey full of up’s and downs. Wins and failures. All in all it has been a great experience. I am able to keep going because I am able to help people in there day to day and relieve them or those pressures of house cleaning. I am able to assist those in areas that are needed and that alone is why I do what i do. Though I am able to make a profit, I get satisfaction from customers being satisfied. Clients being happy and coming home to a nice clean space, guest arriving to their Airbnb for their stay and being super satisfied. Those are the things that drive me and keep me motivated.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Tettieara Coleman, I was born and raised in Columbia, SC. I started my cleaning business in 2020. My business offers cleaning and organizing services. in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. I travel throughout these states cleaning homes, Airbnb’s and commercial properties. I hope to one day have my own cleaning products and linen sprays. I want to be able to employ and provide opportunities for others as well as grow. What set me apart from other cleaning companies is that I travel and offer a range of cleaning services including organizing. I am most proud that I kept going. Even on bad days, I have remained resilient. I want my future clients to know that Tidy up With Tee stands on customer service and at the end of the day, they are the reasons we are able to operate. We need our clients, and our clients need us.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I can definitely share a story from my journey that illustrates my resilience. My mom had been sick off and on for a long time. She passed away on May 7, 2023.I was walking into a cleaning at an Airbnb, I was 3 hours away, Once I arrived back to my hometown, I was told she had passed. Even knowing that, I returned to cleaning the next day. My mom was very proud of me and i knew she would want me to keep going. Keep thriving and to stay strong throughout this process.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media had been one of the most important and impactful tools in building my business and branding. Digital marketing has helped me to grow and allows me to tell my story and be personable allows me to reach my customers. The social media platform allows my friends and family to see my post, like and share,
My advice to anyone starting to build their social media presence is to stay diligent. There are going to be days when you get 100 plus likes and some days you generate none, but on every day you must post. You have to find your niche. Post things that attract the audience you’re wanting. Someone is always looking and watching, so keep posting. I always say, it just takes one person to see your post.
