We recently connected with Allison Jackson and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Allison thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful, I think you need a strong sense of self as well as resilience and perseverance. It can be difficult to stay the course if you’re not aligned and passionate about the end goal. For example, for years I held a corporate job and had a side hustle business that was my passion. Now that I am in the position to dedicate myself to my business full-time, the amount of energy and perseverance has skyrocketed!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started my business, Allison Jackson Fitness, in 2016 which provided online fitness and nutrition coaching to busy professional women. After competing in figure competitions (think bodybuilding meets beauty pageant), I always say my business found me since I was constantly asked how I transformed my body and trained to compete.
Allison Jackson Fitness recently went through an evolution. After a series of unexpected personal and professional crises in the beginning of 2024, my business has moved from fitness and nutrition coaching to spiritual wellness practitioner. It’s been an incredible journey and I’m delighted to be on this path to helping others realize their true potential and calling.
Currently, I am delighted to provide my services and offering as a fractional Chief Wellbeing Officer to corporate organizations looking to improve employee satisfaction and individuals seeking to reconnect with themselves to overcome or prevent burnout. I do this in a number of ways, including wellness consulting, speaking and providing wellness services like sound healing, meditation, energy work, and deep relaxation.
I’m thrilled to marry my career in corporate communications with my passion for wellness and holistic wellbeing.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building an audience on social media takes time and patience. Personally, I’ve found it beneficial to focus on one platform and lean in. Be authentic, build relationships and create a distinct personal brand.
I would recommend posting consistently, whether that’s once a week or five times a week. Collaborate with others in your industry. My favorite motto is: rising tides lift all boats. That’s how I like to approach social media.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
I started providing 1:1 fitness and nutrition coaching in 2016 and kept at it until October 2023. During that time, I began to get burned out and was trying to figure out what was next. I had always had a full-time job and kept my business as a side hustle.
Unfortunately, in February 2024, I was let go from my job, which turned out to be a blessing. It allowed me to step back, figure out the best path forward and jump in head first. I have to say it’s been incredibly rewarding and energizing. I’m thankful for the network I’ve establish and I’m excited for what the future holds as a full-time entrepreneur.
