We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lisa Pellegrene a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope to be remembered for inspiring more love in this world. I wrote a book called “Be Epic, Choose Love” – The Inspiration Continues, and another titled “A Glimpse Into the Sunshine.” “Be Epic, Choose Love” (the original version) is available through Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Waterstones and other various retailers. It can be found at Barnes and Noble stores in the Personal Growth section; predominantly in Southern California, and also in Pittsburgh, PA and Hilton Head Island, SC. “A Glimpse Into the Sunshine” is available through Amazon at the moment, but soon it will be available through other retailers as well. “Be Epic, Choose Love” is a book that came about very organically, waking up one morning knowing that I wanted to do more to inspire others to always choose love for themselves and others. I just started writing, not even knowing a book was in the making until I was about 60 pages into it. Love is truly is a superpower. I always remind people (and remember this myself) that love is a verb – it’s where we take an active stance to proceed with truth, kindness, empathy and compassion for ourselves, so that very importantly, we can then carry that on to proceed the same way with others – human and animal. “A Glimpse Into the Sunshine” is a book where I share short miraculous, real life stories often involving animal rescue, mostly based in Los Angeles. I want people to remember that when we focus on the blessings, we see more blessings; and with love, hope a whole lot of faith and never giving up, we do learn and know that miracles are of course very real. When one is aware of this fact, you can be sure not to miss them! If there is one thing I want to leave a legacy of it’s to inspire more kindness in a world that truly needs it, and most of all love, which truly is the basis of utmost strength.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started a business consulting practice when I first moved to Los Angeles in the early 2000’s. Always writing, from as young as I can remember, coupled with an ability to be equally as analytical as I am creative, and an ability to envision people and their companies at their best. I developed a lot of business plans my first few years in business, for both operational and capital acquisition purposes. My company was called Idea Analyst and Associates. One of my clients helped me to come up with that name. She said “you take people’s ideas, and show them how to make them viable, applying what is needed along the way.” I continued to run the company until 2015, and if someone needs assistance building a business model or to enhance the viability of an existing business model for an expansion, I am still happy to assist.
I worked as talent on TV (a Travel Channel show from the World’s Best Beaches series, which aired nationally for about ten years), and then went onto film production. After this I also started Lisa Pellegrene Media and Publishing focusing on publicity management, which I still do for clients, to help inspiring people gain more exposure for their work, and to bring more opportunities a person’s way (press articles, features and interviews).
I have a book publishing company, where I provide everything from editing to extensive distribution of inspiring books, called Be Epic Media and Publishing. I learned how to extensively publish books, after writing my book, “Be Epic, Choose Love.” I was so determined to get my book out there, as I knew it would help others through its message; so, I learned everything possible about book publishing and marketing (including arranging book tours). I do everything from co-writing, editing, formatting, cover design and distribution to include retail shelf space for authors, where there is good alignment in terms of the types of books I publish (with a focus on the inspiring).
In all of these areas, I am happy to assist clients.
I am a long time animal welfare advocate, ethical vegan and rescuer, so a good portion of my income goes back to saving lives and caring for them. By 2025, I hope to do the build out (after locating the right property!) for a rescue and rehabilitation center. I also hope to relaunch the TV series I conceptualized when I lived in Palm Springs. It is a music and dance production to showcase the work of up and coming talent, alongside the participation of established talent, with the goal of inspiring unity and to help people know that they should absolutely believe in the beauty of their dreams (and strive to achieve them!).

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
A big part of the mission of all I do is to utilize the media to inspire others through uplifting books and TV and film productions, and an overall platform of utilizing the media in these various forms, to help bring about a positive, love based change in this world. There is always hope, always more good on the horizon, and more good to achieve. Inspiring compassion, kindness and love through the media is very powerful, and I believe in using all forms of media in a very responsible way to always lift others up.
We all have God given gifts and talents, and it is our responsibility to realize these talents, work hard to refine them and to use them to make a positive difference – not just in our lives but in the lives of others too (again human and animal – we need a better world for all).

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I think there are so many times in a person’s life that we must learn to be resilient and pivot. As we learn, we grow and that of course applies to one’s professional career (careers) as well. When we learn more, we can do more (and want to!), and I think that is a constant in life. There have been many pivots in my life and in my work. Too many to count! Doing what you love through one’s work and standing by one’s values, as well as always learning (and following one’s heart) are all important parts of life, and I have definitely done all of those things on a very consistent basis.
