We recently connected with Treva Wygle and have shared our conversation below.
Treva, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope that my legacy would be that I was kind and creative! That I created amazing and beautiful images for my client families to cherish for generations! I hope I have taught my kids to be kind and to never stop laughing and being silly and to find joy in the simplest of things. To always love BIG and dream BIG and work hard and make things happen!
Treva, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am very proud of my journey and where I am at now in my life! I am proud to be a woman entrepreneur, taking a chance, tapping into my passion and identifying with my strengths and creativity to build a business that I love! I’ve been doing photography for over 20 years, starting out in journalistic photography and expanding to portrait, real estate and fine art. I consider myself a lifestyle photographer where I spend most of my time barefoot on the beach in Galveston, Texas living the dream! I moved to Galveston fulltime in 2017 where I have quickly become a premier family vacation photographer. My photography business thrives in the tourism industry since living in a destination location. Not only do I stay busy photographing families visiting Galveston for vacation but also photographing the beach homes and vacation rentals they stay in while they are here! My business has grown so fast being in Galveston that I had to bring in reinforcements to keep up the the ever growing demand! Plan-it ink Photography has grown into a Mother/Daughter business where I get the joy and privilege to work side by side with my two daughters, Samantha and Sabrina, providing photography services to the Island and surrounding areas! It makes my heart happy that my daughters have taken a love for photography and followed in my footsteps! There’s not enough family owned businesses out there these days! Although we specialize in family vacation photography, we also offer engagements, maternity, weddings, events, seniors and real estate photography. I think what sets us apart from other similar businesses is our willingness to let loose and have fun on our photo shoots creating a wonderful experience for our clients. We don’t just get those posed shots but encourage our clients to run, jump and make a splash during their sessions! We want their true personalities to come out! Plan-it ink services clients from all over the U.S. and so many of them have become repeat clients and friends. I started out as a vacationer to Galveston as a child and my love for this place drew me in over the years and brought me to now call it home! So I can appreciate and highly understand how my clients feel when they come here to visit. It’s great to meet people who love Galveston just as much as I do!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative?
The most rewarding part of being a full time photographer is being able to experience and capture life changing moments for my clients! Whether it’s the joy and wonder of a child seeing the ocean for the first time, a family being reunited and vacationing together, a couple reciting their vows on the beach or a new mom anticipating the birth of her baby! These are the moments we live for and I get the distinct pleasure of being a part of so many and providing proof and reflection for my clients. The fact that images I have taken are hanging in homes all over the U.S. bringing families such joy and special memories bring me overwhelming joy.
Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
I sincerely think at this point in my life I am focused on balance. Being a female entrepreneur and photography business owner is very demanding! It doesn’t start or stop with simply taking photos! There is a whole process to it from managing schedules, communicating with clients, booking appointments, taking the photos, editing the photos, delivering the photos, social media, bookkeeping… the list goes on and on! It can be very taxing! It is my goal and mission at this point in my life to find a happy balance between, self care, creativity, expansion, family, grandchildren, friendships, work, community and business. That’s a lot, I know, but if we do not put ourselves first and focus on and make time for what is most important to us then what is it all for. We begin our journeys focused on being successful by obtaining our dreams and passions in life. When you are able to make passion your work and livelihood, that can be a very rewarding thing. Just don’t ever lose focus on why you do it and who you do it for. Always make time for family and those things that bring you the most joy.
