We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rose Formaro. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rose below.
Rose, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you ever had an amazing boss, mentor or leader leading you? Can you us a story or anecdote that helps illustrate why this person was such a great leader and the impact they had on you or their team?
Rick Klass is the founder of Intermountain Plant Works. He started the business in 1974 and was president of the company until last September when we purchased it. He has taught me everything I know about being a successful business owner. Sometimes the design portion of what we do can be tedious and frustrating, Rick has always taken things in stride and has proven to be a leader in stressful situations. I look up to him and greatly appreciate his years of knowledge. I would not be where I am today without his guidance!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Intermountain Plant Works provides design, installation and maintenance services to residential and commercial properties around the Salt Lake Valley for plants. We come in and design beautiful green spaces for staff, customers and families to enjoy. We also have a team that will come out and maintain your plants so you never have to worry, your space will always be lush, beautiful and green! In addition, we do rentals for conventions, company parties and weddings!

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Our clients see our Horticulture Maintenance Technicians weekly and I think those relationships they build with them is highly beneficial. They see us on a regular basis and feel comfortable to come to us with any questions or concerns. As the owner, I do a quality control check on all accounts twice a year. I use this time as an opportunity to connect with the staff members at the accounts and really take the time to ask them how they like their service. I make sure they have my email and cell phone number and encourage them to contact me any time.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I love plants! My goal is very simple, to get as many plants to as many people as possible. They liven up a space and make people happy!
