Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Morgan Sharlin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Morgan, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Growing up, I was always a very “girlie girl” who dressed up no matter the occasion and loved to spend weekends sorting through the sale racks at the mall to find the perfect outfits to wear to school that would make me feel confident and excited. Anything pink, floral and fun were the basics of my wardrobe and I quickly learned to embrace that I would always be the most dressed up wherever I went. I did, and still do, feel most comfortable in a pretty dress, pink lip gloss and a stunning handbag.
I talked about starting this little project called a blog for YEARS as a way to share my outfits and sale finds with others to help them embrace being a girl and dressing up no matter the day. With a little encouragement from friends and family and a push from my sweet husband, I took the leap of faith and created Seaside Southern! I started with my Instagram page and then went on to build my very own website from the ground up all by myself! This journey has been quite the learning experience but such a fun journey and I can’t wait to continue to watch it grow!

Morgan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Morgan and I am the creator behind Seaside Southern. I am a twenty something living in Charleston, SC with my husband Gabe and Boston Terrier Leyla. I have always had a passion for fashion and I like to jokingly tease that my hard work as an avid shopper and best dressed nominated high schooler was the ground work to me launching my blog, Seaside Southern! haha
I love sharing all things classic, chic, southern and preppy on my social media platforms. I like to share sales, affordable finds and the occasional splurge worthy item to create looks that are timeless and fun! While fashion is my main focus, I do also like to create lifestyle content sharing our journey of making our house a home and travels with my family.
I hope that girls all over can connect with my page and find pieces that make them feel confident and happy while dressing up in a world that can sometimes over glorify sweatpants and crocs. My goal is to encourage a timeless effort of women confidently showing up from day to day with pride in themselves!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Resilience is key to having your own business! With my brand revolving around social media, I am constantly struggling to keep up with ever changing trends, rules and algorithms to ensure my content is seen by my current and growing audience. Some days I feel as if my content is a waste of time but reminding myself to be consistent and show up everyday is what helps me continue on. While some of my content seems invisible, reminding myself that if I have the ability to give even one single girl a dose of confidence for the day with a great outfit, my job is successful!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Starting from 0 on social media is a very daunting task but one that is very rewarding with each new follow. My main piece of advice for growing an audience on social media would be consistency and quality! While you want to be on as many platforms as possible, it is more important to consistently show up with high quality content on one platform than post poor quality and spiritic content on four platforms.
