We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brian. (BP) Pilling a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brian. (BP) thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Biggest risk I’ve taken was quit my profession to fulfill my dreams as a music recording studio owner. I left without a plan but a goal to achieve something that my heart felt was necessary. With little money in savings and family growing I had to make a decision and it was working for someone and get no where or start my own company! Well I started my company RedLight Studio ATL. Best decision I’ve ever made which landed me where I’m at today headed East towards the light.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a Film director and photographer you have to play both roles accordingly. I started my company RedLight Studio ATL as a recording studio. When managing artists I found the biggest challenge they faced was lack of creativity and how to make the music make sense. So I went a bought a camera to capture those moments and made something of it. My hidden passion as a film director, photography has always been my thing looking back at memories through a picture!!! Fascinating I must say to the inventor of cameras. I started taking more interest in filming more than music so I made some changes in my company a rebranded it to a Broadcasting & Media Production business. I still work with music only as placements in films. I hope to change lives one day with one of my films and hope the world can see what I’ve been seeing the whole time.

How’d you meet your business partner?
Well long story short, I was working as an armed guard for a company I did PI work for. I went on a call for a bank job to meet a technician named Jay later to find out it was Jay Anthony Beatz. So we connected that day and became friends and started working together I was his personnel bodyguard for 3 years. This whole time I don’t know he made music or who he really was, I just knew I love music and he made music. He invited me to his house one day and showed me his studio! Right then and there I knew I wanted to Start RedLight Studio ATL. Jay became my partner and worked making hits after hits. Jay ended up retiring and that’s when I made the big change to film.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I would say how I met most my fans and audience is by going out in the real world and make the streets know me for who I was becoming. Then shortly my work was noticed and I became BP DA GOAT, ATL plug for connecting people that were meant to meet.
