We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rebeccah Silence a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rebeccah , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I’ve taken many risks in my life and throughout my career. My qualifiers before taking a risk are: 1. I educate myself to ensure that, if I choose to move forward, my decision is empowered and informed. The bottom line is I make a powerful choice, or I wait. 2. Committed to a life of no regrets, I strive to do my utmost, give my all, and leave no stone unturned. I don’t ever want to wonder, “What if?” 3. I give myself grace, knowing that some risks will work and some won’t, but through it all, I keep going, one breath at a time, understanding that my best is enough.
The biggest risk I’ve ever taken was betting on myself as a single mom after leaving a domestic violence marriage to go full-time in my private practice. While having a safe job as a school counseling coordinator provided security, benefits, and stability for my daughter and me, deep down, I knew I was limited in my capacity to serve in that role. For years, I balanced part-time work in my private practice with full-time work in schools until my inner guidance unequivocally told me it was time to leap. I’m profoundly grateful I listened.
Taking it one step at a time, I pitched to the local Top40 Radio station for a weekly morning slot, which they generously provided despite my lack of radio or media experience. I put my all into the show, just as I do when working with clients directly. Without spoiling the ending, this decision became the very best one I’ve ever made. The show quickly rose to number one, and 14 years later, we’re still on the air. My private practice was booked out six months within the first two weeks on the radio, and the company’s growth since has been nothing short of miraculous.
Today, as a published author with a global presence, offering courses and services that bring joy, peace, and healing to families, I feel honored to work every day with the most extraordinary souls. If I hadn’t taken the full-time risk, I wouldn’t be where I am now. Take the risk, so you never have to wonder. I believe in you.

Have you ever had to pivot?
After being diagnosed with cancer while 7 months pregnant at only 34 years old, life hit a major turning point. I knew right away that cancer would be the ultimate seminar. I found myself at a crossroads, realizing it’s easy to be my best when life goes my way, but this was an opportunity to truly meet the best and purest version of myself. I decided my only job was to fully commit to my life so that I could align with my soul. I didn’t see myself as sick or dying but as healthy, healed, and whole, choosing to live fully despite the odds.
I recognized that merely pushing harder or doubling down on my usual achievement-driven success strategies wouldn’t suffice. Cancer served as a wake-up call to wholeheartedly embrace emotional healing. It became crystal clear that mindset tricks and productivity hacks weren’t enough; I needed something deeper to genuinely save my life.
This awareness steered me onto a new path, from chasing achievements and outcomes to focusing on what it means to be in alignment with my soul and in co-creation with what I call, God. It involved learning to trust myself and to love myself in ways I had never fully embraced before. This journey wasn’t just about physical healing; it was about transforming my self-perception and once and for all taking my place in the world.
Cancer also revolutionized how I approached my work. While I continue to cherish working one-on-one with clients, the limitations of impacting lives on a larger scale inspired me to dedicate my life to serving humanity and families at an even higher level. I shifted my business from a 1:1 model to a one-to-many approach, adding to my private services, incorporating books, courses, and online coaching programs. My goal was to build something bigger—a global empire—that could reach and assist people everywhere, and today I have achieved that.
My personal metamorphosis brought about by the catalyst called cancer led me to new beliefs in trust, love, and the power of genuine connection. Life became about sharing the healing and transformation I’d experienced with as many people and families as possible. This shift has been one of the most exhilarating and fulfilling phases of my life, proving that aligning with your true self and your beliefs can create limitless impact.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One major lesson I’ve had to unlearn is the notion that you must hit rock bottom or breakdown to experience a breakthrough. Through navigating my own traumas and crises, I’ve learned there’s never a “right time” to heal and I don’t wait to lean into healing when I know it’s time to heal. Contrary to what many personal growth gurus claim, a breakdown isn’t a necessary step toward breakthrough. I can assure you that growth doesn’t require falling to the lowest point first; it begins with the decision to rise and a full on commitment to being and becoming a person who rises, regardless of the circumstances.
I also challenge the idea that life happens to us or for us. Life is simply life. Sometimes it goes our way and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve learned that we all have the power to choose who we’re going to be in any situation. Being our best self is easy when things go well but true growth and healing occur during those challenging times. Adversity happens and when it does, it isn’t our fault and we have a choice: to retreat, reacting passively to our surroundings, or to stand tall and empowered, embodying our best selves and seizing every moment, without needing circumstances to change. This isn’t about forced positivity; it’s about recognizing and tapping into the endless possibilities that life offers.
These insights have profoundly influenced my view on healing and living fully. Healing, for me, is synonymous with freedom. It’s about freeing yourself from the belief that things need to be different for you to be okay and to feel the way you want to feel. Real healing—and true freedom—arise from the ability to rise above, to harness your inner strength and light, even amidst darkness. This is how you achieve genuine freedom and complete healing.
