Novi, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

My story and idea why I open my own Business , it was a great idea behind. First at all I love helping people , I moved to Buffalo way far from Indonesia, 2008, I former a Trader at Indonesian Stock Exchange, And I see Buffalo is very Multicultural. And I offer my business that all imported from Indonesia, All products by handmade, Handmade by special need, Elderly & Homeless youth. Some products is my original design like Clothing & scarves. And every 10 % sales is going back to Community to help for Homeless Kids education.
My Business name is Sasmita Batik. Sasmita means Beautiful and Batik means Fabric ( Motif)
Sasmita Batik featured at NYFW, top Magazine and More.
Sasmita Batik is not only sales for profit but we are do for help Charity Event too.
This year will be 14 years anniversary.

Sasmita Batik is always stay in touch with customer, through send email, for special occasion like discounts, Birthday Card, or big big Holiday in USA. Sometimes , we private event like Sip & Shopping. Why, important to do this, because this strategy to keep in toouch with customers, we’re listening what their idea, and what they want to improve my products.
Summer time, we are doing fashion show or Batik Class to rise money back to community.

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.

Sasmita Batik productions base on in Indonesia, why in Indonesia, because I’m from Indonesia, and my goal always want to help them to be better life. Especially for Kids Educations. Since we are open the business, right now Sasmita Batik embrace almost 50 small businesses in Indonesia to work together.

We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.

We are working on Ecommerce Business now, and we are use Amazon Platform.
