Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Teeb Martin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Teeb, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
My creative abilities come from my mother. As a kid I used to try to mimmic her every move when she used to draw. I would always ask for help but get mad when she helped too much. All the way through elementary school we would go above and beyond with my creative projects and I just got better as time went on.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those who may not know much of me, most that do call me a Swiss Army knife or a rare Pokémon. As I first got started in the creative space it was mostly custom clothing and canvas paintings through highschool. As I got the freedom to do more I got to spread my wings and get more into the creative space with shooting editing and directing various videos. My main thing that people will see is my designs working with multiple clothing lines such as my own, The CashBoyz and Global Heartbreak. Also being creative director in the cannabis industry with THC-GO. As I get further into things and gain more qualities I can provide to my customers my main goal is just to make a customers imagination come true.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My main mission is to never give up. I know that I have the skill and talent to excel and do what ever I put my mind to but I don’t want to get discouraged as things intensify and get more serious. There are a lot more eyes on me now that I am gaining traction, so my main thing is to just keep my head straight and be an example to the black youth that they can do whatever they believe in too. On a more personal level I just want to help my loved ones as much as they helped me growing up and nothing would mean more than giving back to them.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
My biggest lesson I learned is nobody is perfect. Having this in my head helped me excel my art immensely. Not caring to much of a stroke of a line, the way something was printed on a shirt, or the size of a cut on a jeans all these may be mistakes in my mind but on the other end this may be someone’s greatest piece. Art is very subjective, you don’t want to be to loose but be comfortable.
