We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amber Brown a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
As a realtor, my business is often shared publicly. Social media and the internet are a big part of that and that platform allows me to share service opportunities within my community. I know the importance of success in my profession and the value that it adds as I continue to grow, but I believe it is even more important to serve others. Ebby Halliday is a great example of that and one of my heroes. She is exactly that – a woman who not only built a successful real estate business but also dedicated herself to serving others. Like Ebby, I believe that success is not solely measured by sales figures or awards, but by the positive impact we have on the lives of those around us. I have been blessed to be a part of our community. Through the Chamber, which Ebby is a member of, I have had the opportunity to get to know our local non-profits. Locally, I my family and I have served with many of them. Ebby’s motto is “Do something for someone every day.” What a great way to live! Recently, I received the Ebby Go-Giver Award, it was more than just an acknowledgment of my efforts; it was a reminder of the values that drive me in both my professional and personal life. Ebby’s selflessness and community service inspired me to go above and beyond in my role as a realtor. I’m excited to continue and follow in the footsteps of Ebby. To live a life with integrity, hard work, and compassion for others. I do believe that we can make a meaningful difference in the world around us. Ebby Halliday is a leader and inspiration to all the realtors and community members who follow her example to make a difference. As Ebby said, “We’re just getting started.”
Amber, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My journey into real estate was deeply influenced by my upbringing in a military household. Constantly moving from one place to another taught me the value of finding the perfect place to call home. My personal experience led to my passion for helping others find their perfect home and led me to pursue a career in real estate. With my background as an executive assistant in the corporate field, I am extremely organized, professional, and very detail oriented. My start in real estate began as an assistant to a top-producing team in Dallas. That was a wonderful learning experience as I began to pursue my career. My goal as a realtor is to make the process as seamless as possible for my clients. Each transaction is different and requires guidance each step of the way. Taking my clients step by step and helping them understand the process is extremely important, as buying or selling a home is one of the most important things they will do. I believe my commitment to putting clients first is what sets me apart in this industry. I strive to ensure that my clients feel empowered and informed throughout the entire process. Communication and knowledge are key in this industry. It takes a team and I work closely, with the title company, lender, and the other agents to ensure that things are moving along. I’m extremely dedicated to what I do and am always further educating myself to benefit my clients. I have received the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) designation, a distinction held by less than 10% of realtors in Texas, as well as my C2EX certification, which signifies my commitment to excellence in real estate. I am also passionate about serving my community. Volunteering and giving back have always been important to me, and I’m actively involved in various organizations and my local church. I love spending time with my husband and three kids and being outdoors. Ultimately, what I want potential clients to know about me is that I’m not just a realtor; I’m dedicated and will go above and beyond to make sure their needs are met and their expectations exceeded. Building relationships and having someone they can trust is extremely important. Whether they are buying or selling, I want them to know they can always count on me.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
For my business personally, I have focused on building relationships. Most of my clients are referrals from people I already know in my sphere of influence. It is important that when people are seeking a realtor, they find someone that they trust and can connect with. I believe, that as I continue to build trust through clients, friends and my community people will want to work with me. Sharing on social media also allows people to get to know me. I not only focus on sharing information about real estate, but I also share who I am, my family and my values. I believe we each find a source for obtaining new clients and you have to find what works best for you. For me, it is building relationships. I am thankful for all those who trust in me.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience could be another name for real estate. Every day is different, every transaction is different. As a realtor, you learn to take it one day at a time. Clients change their minds, issues arise in homes and life happens. You work hard for months and sometimes it falls apart and at the end of the day, all that matters is that your clients are happy and you have done everything you can for them. The biggest time of resilience for me was when the pandemic began. We went from shutdown to real estate madness with multiple offers and more buyers than homes. I was working as an assistant at the time. Days were long and discouraging for clients trying to buy homes. All we could do was keep pushing forward. It was in that year that I lost both of my brothers-in-law as well. At a time that felt so sad and discouraging, I remained hopeful and joyful. There were moments when I wondered if we would ever be back to normal again and today here we are. There have been ups and downs, but I remain hopeful that the market is balancing out and that clients have great opportunities to buy and sell. I am stronger from those challenges and thankful for the trials as they helped me to grow.
