Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christopher Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christopher, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Uncommon is a faith-based community group where people can show and become the best versions of themselves. Since 2016, what were four people in a living room together only by God, turned into a family that has spanned across the nation. Uncommon has and consistently chooses to be a place to find community, live life, and struggle well together, no matter their location!
As one of our members said, “It’s a place where I got to be exactly who God wants me to be: myself…”
Uncommon is a community that commits to being a safe space where people from all walks of life can gather in community while processing life and beliefs through all the ups and downs. We strive to be a space where ALL are welcome regardless of race, gender orientation, ethnicity, or church affiliation.
All Means All: And that’s All ALL means. We do not turn the other cheek, we embrace everyone and allow everyone to be curious and learn from one another. We have zero tolerance for disrespect. We do ask everyone to be respectful to others’ experiences and their opinions. This is how we grow. This is how we become better together.
One way we do this well is through our weekly gatherings. Each Tuesday, we all come together as one big group. this includes those in person as well as our online community. We share good things that have happened over the week, and take the time to share anything hard.
We are constantly striving to partner with ministries, nonprofits, and other organizations to help steward connecting people from all walks of life.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As the founder of Uncommon, a non-profit dedicated to fostering dialogue and inclusivity, I’ve dedicated myself to driving positive transformation in local communities. Originally from Queens, New York, I’ve spent the past 17 years in Charlotte, NC, infusing the city with my unwavering dedication to diversity and inclusion.
With over 14 years of ministry experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge and empathy to my endeavors. But what truly sets Uncommon apart is our commitment to creating safe spaces where individuals from all walks of life can thrive. We believe in celebrating authenticity, cultivating understanding, and empowering everyone to embrace their uniqueness.
Through Uncommon and beyond, I advocate for environments where difficult conversations are welcomed, differences are respected, and meaningful change is pursued. Our work isn’t just about tolerance; it’s about genuine acceptance and appreciation for the rich tapestry of human experience.
The journey for us will always aim towards a more inclusive, compassionate world where every voice is heard and valued. Together, we can make a tangible difference and create lasting impact in the lives of individuals and communities alike.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing and expanding our impact lies in a multi-faceted approach that leverages both local engagement and outreach:
Investing time and effort in our local community allows me to build strong relationships and establish myself as a trusted leader. By actively participating in community events, collaborating with local organizations, and addressing specific needs of our community, I can cultivate a healthy following and gain credibility as someone who truly cares about making a difference where it matters most.
By maintaining an authenticity and sincerity in all our interactions, whether local or beyond. People are drawn to genuine personalities who truly care about making a positive impact. By communicating openly and transparently, and by sharing my own experiences and perspectives in a relatable manner, I can foster deeper connections and inspire others to join us on our mission.
Collaborating with like-minded individuals, organizations, and influencers have helped to amplify our message and expand our reach. We are always seeking out opportunities to partner with others who share our values and vision for a more inclusive world. By pooling resources, sharing networks, and working together towards common goals, we can achieve greater impact than you could on our own.
We also do our best staying informed about current issues, trends, and best practices in diversity, inclusion, and social advocacy. We remain open to feedback and willing to adapt our approach based on new insights and evolving circumstances. By continuously learning and growing, we can ensure that our efforts remain relevant and effective in addressing the ever-changing needs of our community.
Integrating these steps into your approach to growth, have helped in effectively expanding our reputation and influence, reaching and empowering individuals from all walks of life, both near and far.
