We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amiana Patterson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amiana below.
Hi Amiana , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I’ve always been a creative at heart so knowing that a creative flow would always accompany me throughout my lifetime was not a decision that I needed to make. It has and always will be part of who I am.
But, I will say learning how to navigate social media and monetizing platforms ultimately “sealed the deal” for me creatively. Social media has played a significant role in being one of the very avenues of having the ability to experience not only creative freedom but aspects of financial freedom as well.
I’ve always intentionally lived by the phrase “Do what you love, love what you do” so seeing the potential in expanding that very phrase into monetized platforms to authentically be who I am while commanding my own time was pure gold.
Having the freedom to express myself creatively whether words, photos, quotes, or otherwise gave me the permission to continue to show up in all that I am and ultimately validate what I knew to be true… Authenticity and creativity will not only pay but pay off.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Amiana and I am a serial entrepreneur, creative, and content curator. I have always had a heart of service, within what I like to refer as the “Big 3” which for me, is entrepreneurship, creativity, and curation, I provide a service and solution to my supporters and tribe.
I have a skincare business by the name of Pampered Luxe which caters to individuals who are looking to enhance or start their skincare journey while using vegan based ingredients to do so.
Endearingly named the Pampered Tribe, these individuals have found what their skin requires and what they themselves love in Pampered Luxe products.
To name a few of my best selling products from the line starting with the men would be Sovereign and Hypnotiq from our Designer Collection. These are both body butters made with raw ingredients such as shea butter and cocoa butter. Pampered Luxe does take it one step further in providing that luxury feel to the skin by adding the chef’s kiss of aroma that is long lasting. Sovereign by smell can be compared to Adventus Creed and Hypnotiq can be compared to Gucci Envy Me.
The Designer Collection’s best selling for women is Cloud Nine and The Delight which again is providing that luxury feel and long lasting aroma. Cloud Nine can be compared to Calvin Klein’s Euphoria and The Delight can be compared to Candy by Prada. Aside of body butters, Pampered Luxe also features best sellers of Radiant Gold Face Serum, Aloe Vera Face Moisturizer,
and Turmeric and Oatmeal Soap.
Pampered Luxe has also ventured into a new space of expansion with two Multi Purpose Room Sprays Ascension and Nobility. Both leaves a lingering smell that provides an inviting atmosphere to any space. Nobility for example, can be compared to Baccarat Rouge.
When Im not wearing the entrepreneurial hat, I do lean into a different aspect of creativity with content curation. I’m always looking for the coolest places to take my sons so that I keep my “cool mom” title and I share my adventures with my supporters. Being able to document memories while also providing ideas for someone else to take their children to create their own memories has been important to me.
When the mom hat is put away for a moment, I travel to adulting adventures like where’s the best brunch experience, self care date ideas, significant other date ideas, spa day, etc and share that with my supporters as well. It’s also important to express not only being mom but womanhood and providing those ideas to replenish self.
I am also the Creative Director of Midwest Black Girl Recess which is a growing community dedicated to providing a safe space for black women to network, find support, and focus on keeping our bodies in physical motion such as Double Dutch, Line Dancing, Zumba, etc. as we combat and prevent medical conditions such as heart disease. I love the community that is being built and the space to show up with no judgement.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is being able to keep that “child like imagination” alive. In childhood there’s so much confidence in being limitless, being anything you want to be, having the capacity to be fearless. I never want to let those things go because I ultimately feel those things are required in a creative flow. Confidence. Resiliency. Fearlessness.
Confidence, Resiliency, and Fearlessness as a creative is one of the most rewarding aspects on this journey simply because it pushes you to continue to figure it out. Having to continue to move forward gives you experiences to learn from or win in!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal I have on this journey is to continue to strive be all that I am. To continue to show up for myself and in doing that inspire someone else to do the same. The driving force is knowing that as I honor my authenticity that I’m also in turn providing someone else watching my journey the confidence to know they can do it too.
