We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alexandra Mahairas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alexandra below.
Alexandra , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, one thing many business owners consider is donating a percentage of sales or profits to an organization or cause. We’d love to hear your thoughts and the story behind how and why you chose the cause or organization you donate to.
A portion of the proceeds of all of my businesses including the sales of my gratitude journal go to support Women & Men who are gaining freedom from life controlling drug/alcohol addiction as well as s*x trafficked victims. These issues are close to my heart and I believe if you have been put in a position to help heal another life, you must do it! I found these organizations because for many years my father & family dedicated their lives to helping serve the needs in these spaces. I always look for places that I feel aligned with their mission and purpose and one that I know the funds are being used for what the organization says they are being used for. I can tell you from personal experience it has been a great gift to me and to my businesses to find ways to give. In addition the outpouring of love from the people running these organizations and the people they are helping has been such a beautiful thing to experience. Although we are the ones giving so many times it feels like we are the ones receiving a gift!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have worked in many facets of the business world & has had amazing successes in sales & building strong teams over the past 25 yrs whether that was in her real estate business, designing & flipping properties, managing flagship retail locations, working for financial firms or as the Executive Assistant to our companies CEO for over 15 yrs.
During a growth and training seminar, I found my true passion was in connecting, leading & helping others. I became an entrepreneur 20 years ago and opened up a high end brick & mortar children & women’s boutique. I loved every minute of connecting with my clients & of running a business on my own terms. I became a buyer & was offered a position to be a global buyer traveling the world; ultimately I had a surprise baby in 2011 after almost 10 years of trying & realized I would again have to make a shift in life.
During this season I refocused and began running an online franchise & building a large team of women that I worked closely with on a daily basis. Hosting weekly trainings and mastermind sessions, monthly lunch and learn and retreats.
I truly found so much joy & renewed energy mentoring and watching them find their purpose and profit from their passions.
In an effort to truly help each person I would come in contact with, I became a certified business coach with a focus on Leadership & unlocking the Power to Change through simple disciplines.
I have now built a Coaching Business that I am proud of, where I connect with authenticity & practical solutions for the everyday entrepreneur. I host and facilitates many Women’s Empowerment & Growth Retreats annually (where I teach women to build a rock solid belief system & throw off any things that are holding them hostage in their own life).
The thing I am most proud of and that I want potential clients/followers to know is… Every day is a gift. We have the gift of time and the gift to choose the life we want to create.
I would want potential clients to know ~ it is not as scary as you may think; just take the leap. You can begin where you are, with what you have and as you grow you will be transforming yourself into the best version of yourself.
The main thing holding people back is their own mindset surrounding perceived challenges. You will never outperform the view you hold of yourself. If you think you can or you think you can’t…. You’re RIGHT both times.
But I believe you CAN and I am excited to get to journey with you.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is showing up and being intentionally authentic to who I am in every space I step into. I have found when I go to Womens gatherings, new openings or Business Summits number one I have to prioritize going to the events that I feel aligned with and when I do show up, I show up fully as myself. This sounds so simple but I have found in my coaching business it’s less likely happening than you think. Many Women (knowledgable, powerful and successful women) are battling quietly battling imposter syndrome and the negative self talk in their own minds so frequently that it makes them not show up as themselves when they meet new people. What I have found happens is you make a connection with someone and it isn’t one that you feel aligned with because they are not connecting with the real you. Which in turn begins that vicious mental cycle again of feeling less than.
The truth is we are more alike than we are different. We all want to have deep and real connections, we all want to be seen and understood and we all need a tribe of positive people in our life clapping loudly for us.
So much of these connections happen when someone meets you in real life and maybe begins to follow you on socials and sees that you show up authentically there as well. Many times if they are not in a space of needing your service they will still refer their own network of people to you. “Referral business is one of my favorite things; as these people already have come to you with a positive perspective form someone they trust”
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
In addition to being truly consistent in my stories and socials, I have found the ways that I stay connected and foster brand loyalty with my clients or potential clients is hosting monthly free or very inexpensive empowerment gatherings. Usually these gatherings are at a local Women Owned business, where all are welcome and we eat, mingle and connect on a deeper level taking time to also nourish our own selves. Many times there is an opportunity for the “pretty picture” but no real connection. I am less about the most beautiful aesthetic and more about the most beautiful, authentic experience that allows each person in attendance to feel truly empowered to live the life of THEIR Dreams.
